Thinking About…ME!

A lot can be said about a little self-indulgment.

I’ve never understood people who say they can’t buy something for themselves without feeling guilty. While I do tend to get caught up in the routine of life, it doesn’t take long before my inner Veruca Salt starts clearing her throat.

For someone who’s a cheap ass bargain hunter when it comes to most things, over the last few weeks, I’ve started to see things a little differently…hence paying $2 for ONE freaking persimmon! 😉 I mean, you only live once right? And you sure as heck can’t take the money with you when your dead! So I might as well get myself that goose and fry up some golden eggs…or uh, something like that! 😉

Which is probably why I decided it was a good idea to buy all my friends “party accessories” before our campfire last weekend and force them all to look as nerdy as me all night!

Glowstick Glasses Selfie

Glow stick duck face FTW!

Or why, after logging in to Open Sky JUST to change my email preferences, I ended up pausing for half a second to notice the words “$40 credit” floating up at the top of the screen…and then proceeding to spend $50!

Open Sky Tees

But c’mon, these tanks KICK ASS, no?

Or why, while shopping for the besties birthday present last weekend, I decided to add yet ANOTHER bottle to my ever-growing collection.

Wine Collection

With this label? How could I not?!

Or why, since hanging out with my music soul mate more, I’ve gotten a little trigger clicker happy when it comes to indulging in my newest addiction…

Remix Faves

Remix ALL THE SONGS!

And of course, what would all that fun be without sharing a little? It’s been on my workout playlist for months but this…

Ugh, and doesn’t Sam Smith’s voice just make you all toodly in your bits?

Granted, self-pampering doesn’t always have to come with a price tag. I’ve been having my fair share of FREE fun too…sleeping in until 11am, indulging in a little afternoon run in the rain, spending hours at the library, or giving myself a little pedicure…and that was all last Sunday!

Thinking-Out-Loud

Big thanks to Amanda for hosting my favorite Thursday’s linkup and for giving me a good way to mix things up from my usual randomness! Be sure to hop on over to Spoons and check out all the other random thoughts going on today!

What was the last treat you bought for yourself?

What was the last FREE thing you did for yourself?

Sam Smith owns my soul. His song Latch stripped down to just his voice kills me, right in my tiddly bits 😉
And I have major buyers remorse when I’m buying something for me. Its seriously messed up, which is probably why my husband handed me $40 today so that I could buy a dress for the wedding we are going to go to this weekend. He promptly informed me to “buy something pretty”, but made sure to emphasize on it being a DRESS and NOT workout clothes. I may have given him a little pouty face in return.

Haha! Omg, I can totally see that pouty face…but tell me HOW did it not work to your advantage?! You should’ve walked away with a dress AND workout clothes! Lol

  2. I NEED that second tank top. That is hilarious! Right now I’m trying to go easy on the wallet considering the whole “I have no source of income” thing. Being an adult is hard…

I love that first tank top! The last free thing i did for myself was taking a nap even though i had a million and one things to do, which was cool and all … until i woke up wondering what century/universe i was in.

  4. Totally agree that you gotta treat yo self every once in a while! Although truthfully I can’t remember the last time I really treated myself. I got dinner at Lettuce Love Cafe on Friday with a friend, but that’s not really a treat because I go there so often haha.

The last free thing I did for myself was go on a walk and listen to a podcast – it’s one of my favourite things to do lately!

  5. Wellllll, I bought a coffee for myself at Bux this morning, but that’s kind of a regular thing so I don’t even know if I consider it a treat anymore? BUT! I think it’s super important to do things for ourselves on a regular basis because it keeps us happy and when we’re happy we’re a lot more useful to other people as well. So in the end… everyone wins 😀

  6. Hahaha my workout playlist is all EDM/remix songs. I love it 🙂 also, that turn down for what shirt is AWESOME.

  7. I’m really bad for not buying myself things – I normally find an excuse not to get it – my husband gives me into so much trouble for it as he wants me to get things! But I love buying things for other people!
I think I am just too tight with money! :-S
But I think I will go for a nice walk this morning and listen to a podcast. With working from home I’m normally quite strict on myself but I think it will do me the world of good to get some fresh air, relax and do something FREE for me!

I do love the ‘turn down for what’ tank!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh yes, it’s amazing what a bit of fresh air can do for the soul! I hope you took advantage of that time and had a nice relaxing walk! 🙂

  8. I LOVE those tanks. Last treat I bought myself were 3 new kitchen pans.

  9. The last treat I bought myself was the bottle of rose I’ve been enjoying with dinners this week. The last free thing I did was yoga in my living room. That was nice too : )

    Have a great weekend!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ahhh, sounds heavenly! I think it’s about time I cracked open one of the bottles in my wine stash! And I gotta say, I love me some living room yoga!

  10. So……as per my previous comment, it’s evident you put these gifts to good use. Nice one, tiger! I’m pretty bad at buying things for myself but LOVE doing it for others- I don’t know, it’s a strange concept when writing it out.

Love the veruca salt reference….off topic but wouldn’t it be amazing to have a 3 course meal via gum? well, with the knowledge of an actual 3 course meal afterwards.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

With the way I’ve been chewing gum lately, HECK YES!! Haha! And I totally understand…as much as I buy for myself, I love surprising people I love with gifts. Nothing beats that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you get to see them smile! 🙂

  11. I keep waxing and waning between buying anything I want despite the cost “because you only live once” and saving money like my life depends on it because “holy shit I have to buy a house and have been saving NO money”…
    Yes, life.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Wellllllll, it’s different when you’re in “big saving” mode…plus, once you get that big shiny new house, you get to FILL it with all those little goodies you put off getting! Lol
