My Weekend Lobotomy

 Hello guys and gals!

I hope you all had a fantastical weekend! I’m happy to report that after my week from hell last week, my weekend couldn’t have been further from the opposite. Not only did I get in plenty of mind-mushing activities, but I also got a complete overhaul and am now ready to take on another week…and this time I WILL come out on top (har har)! Yep, in three and a half days I got a MARVELOUS mind makeover and it all started with this…

Coffee Selfie

My little IG/Twitter confession: Sometimes I can’t wait to go to sleep just because I know that once I wake up, I get to have a coffee the size of my head! 😉 It didn’t even matter that I didn’t sleep so well…this coffee tasted THAT good! Plus, I was excited for the evening’s festivities!

Campfire

What more could a girl ask for other than a perfect starry night, a roaring campfire, never-ending Mai Tais (which I’d never had until this point), and discovering some amazing new music? Nothing. The answer is noth-ING! 😉

But just a little aside about that music…because you KNOW I have to share!

Alejandro Rose-Garcia, aka “Shakey Graves” is a music genius and seriously brings new meaning to the phrase, “one man band”! Not only does he rock the guitar, but if you pay attention, you’ll notice that he’s also playing a drum and a tambourine AND singing
AT THE SAME TIME! And that voice!

Seriously you guys, I think I’m in love!

After staying up till sunrise, it’s safe to say Friday was well spent…sleeping and otherwise loafing around…oh, and catching up on Game of Thrones! Only two episodes left and I’m finished! I really could’ve slept pretty late in the day on Saturday too, but again, I had plans that were much more important!

Farmer's Market

Like meeting my good friend Jenn, whom I haven’t seen in for-ev-er, at the farmer’s market and visiting some of our favorite vendors. I know I got a little carried away with my haul, but I just couldn’t resist the deal I got on those tomatoes and watermelons from Blocker Farms! Oh and that bread? That would be homemade Hawaiian bread! #hellyes

Almond Joy Ice Cream

After strolling around the market for an hour, we were hot and sweaty and ready for the second half of our morning “date”…ice cream from Freeze Pleeze! Jen went with the amazing chunky monkey (chocolate banana ice cream with peanuts) while I went with my dream bowl, Almond Joy! The coconut milk was even creamier than the almond milk bowl I got last time and was perfectly sweet for my tastes without ANY additional sweetener. It also made my day when the owners thanked me over and over for my review post last week…I swear I had no idea they would even see it!

Massage

Half an hour after relishing in frozen bliss, I snuggled into a warm massage table and was man-handled in the best way possible! Since my favorite dread-locked, ear-gauged hippie masseuse moved to another place of business, I was nervous about trying someone new, but let me tell you, Estelle from Massage Envy is ahhhhhhmazing! I told her about some trouble areas in my shoulders and hips and she used a combination of functional massage and trigger point therapy to basically form me into a human jello jiggler!

Once home, I indulged in a little afternoon seista. I woke up feeling perfectly refreshed (which never happens) so I went for a great hour-long walk at the gym with my book. When I got BACK home, I showered and got ready for a little date night…

Orange is the New Black + Wine

Complete with fuzzy robe and slippers! 😀

I stayed up till midnight binge-watching the second season of Orange is the New Black (it’s about time, right?) after finally cracking into my wine stash! Then I went to bed and slept until TWELVE THIRTY!! Yep, you read that right…twelve glorious hours of comatose slumber. And that, my friends, is a successful use of Benedryl and wine! 😉

Gym Selfie

Waking up feeling like a new woman, I obviously had to put that energy to good use so off I went to the gym for the second day in a row (go me), but this time I decided to throw some weights around with the boys. Gah, it felt so good to get that pump…and to sweat…and to rock my new TJ Maxx workout tank! 😉

And if all the weekend’s activities weren’t enough, I had a little visual reassurance that I was primed and ready to start the week…

SunsetI seriously pulled over on the side of the road on the way to work to snap a picture of this beautiful sunset! And how about I just noticed the American flag in the bottom right corner? Damn I’m good! Lol

What did YOU do this weekend?

What was the most relaxing thing you did?

I went to Chicago for a bachelor weekend. Stayed in a hotel with a seriously sweet view of the river/trump tower and went to the Cards/Cubs game which the cubs got beat up on! Way too much alcohol and fun lead to a sweet early bed time on Sunday! Mmmmmm I got like 10 hours sleep!

  2. I don’t want to be a downer, but I sure hope youre not addicted to coffee! I’ve never been a bug drinker although I do have one time to time. By the way, how do you like to have your coffee?

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh I highly doubt it! Up until about a month ago, I couldn’t even handle more than half caff without feeling like I was gonna come out of my skin. I don’t have it daily, but when I do, I never drink more than one cup a day…and savor it for as long as possible. Seriously, it can sometimes take me three different trips to the microwave to reheat it before I’m done! Haha! And I take my coffee black…I’m already sweet enough! 😉

  3. I;m seriously jealous of your massage, I could really use one! It might have to happen this week…and seriously, you’re not alone on the coffee thing. I often find myself craving a cup in the late afternoon but know I can’t if I plan to sleep that night so I start dreaming of my cup for the next morning.

  4. Sounds like a seriously PERFECT weekend! I actually got a massage too because I bought a couples massage for me and JZ as a part of his birthday present. The other part of his present was an afternoon at Niagara Falls and dinner at an Italian restaurant – it was a nice mini getaway! Unfortunately that means I had no time for the farmers market this weekend. 🙁 I’m jealous of your great loot!

No girl, I’m afraid you have me beat on the perfect weekend! Couples massage, Niagara Falls, AND a romantic Italian dinner? Shaaaaaa! Now I just have to figure out a way to steal you from JZ before MY birthday in December! 😉

  5. I soaked up the (apparently neverending) sunshine and had a picnic in the park! Normally the heat wave is over by now in these parts, so it’s kind of amazing that the nice weather has been sticking around. There may have (also) been a little too much Orange is The New Black as well. 😉

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ahhhhhh! A picnic at the park? That’s still on my list of things to do this summer! Now that it’s finally starting to cool down, I might just be able to cross it off this weekend! 😀

  6. I’m ALMOST done with season 2! Then we can chat about it!
SO SO glad to hear your weekend got better! Love you!

  7. What an awesome way to spend a weekend! I had to work Saturday, but Sunday I did random cooking and hung out with the puppy. Then I took myself to see the new Woody Allen movie that afternoon.

  8. I would pay money to hangout at queen broccoli’s house while watching Orange is the new Black, and sipping glass of wine. Barefoot mascoto, to be exact 😉 Classy or trashy, that $5 wine is the best. I miss your charming accent and big smile lovely lady. I hope you are doing well and life is treating you right!

AwwwwwwwwrrrrrrrrrR! <- add a little southern twang to that, would ya? 😉 Girl, you make me miss you even MORE with comments like this that totally melt my heart! Moscato is a bit too sweet for my tastes, but I would stock my house FULL if it would bring you to me! 🙂 *hugs*

  9. Perfect weekend much? I roadtripped it to the beach so I can’t complain…

Sounds like the perfect weekend to me, right down to the netflix and wine! Throw in that farmers market haul and I don’t think it gets any better.

  11. I am actually envious of that ice cream place- seriously, I’m just envisioning the creations! Glad you got some epic slumber…feel free to send some vibes, I’ve been lacking in that area.

  12. I’m envious. This is like the perfect weekend times three. Massages, marathons (of the Netflix variety), epic nights of sleep and all that farmers market goodness. Damn girlfriend, you made out like a champ. I’m hoping you’ve been using that Hawaiian Bread to make all those fabulous sandwiches I’ve been seeing on the Gram. Me likey.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I wish! Unfortunately, most of the pieces I had to pry out of the toaster bit by bit! It was a lot crumblier (wow, that’s actually a word! Ha!) than I hoped and didn’t really hold together unless I purposefully burnt it…which did actually come in handy one night when my tummy wasn’t feeling so hot. But yeah, not gonna be picking up another loaf of that. Guess I’ll just stick with the sourdough and the ciabatta rolls I have in the freezer!
