Marvelously Maniacal & Hover Roundin’

Happy Monday my loves!

I hope you all had a marvelous, and perhaps GREEN? weekend!

I may not have gone out dancing and green beer drinking last night (even if I HAD the ability to dance, I’m not really much of a St. Patty’s Day celebrator), but I DID whip up this bowl of goodness…

Green Oats

And by “whip up”, I totally mean I heated up a packet of Oat Fit Oats, threw it in the good ol’ Magic Bullet with a handful of spinach and cinnamon, and VOILA!

Nail Polish

I also thought I’d be festive and give myself a little Irish manicure…

Nail #Fail

Only I’m a bit impatient/forgetful and ended up ruining it less than an HOUR later…

*grumble*

BUT this weekend wasn’t ALL about green-filled festivities surrounding a holiday that I have no idea why American’s even celebrate (?). Nope! There were some other pretty MARVELOUS happenings over the last few days!

Join me, the one and only Healthy Diva, and the rest of the MARVELOUS crew as we celebrate Monday the best way we know how…by living through weekend snapshots!

Crutches

But first, a quick update since I had my follow-up appointment with the surgeon on Thursday. I found out that they did have to remove part of my meniscus, but he also went in and “scraped” some arthritis out of the knee-joint.

My stitches were removed (I will definitely spare you THAT picture!) and I was given orders to start physical therapy on Tuesday…oh yeah, and about going back to work next week? Not happening! The doctor said that until I show progress in PT, he wants me to stay out of work for up to…are you ready for this?

THREE MORE WEEKS!!!!Β

Holy friggin’ crap…I’m going to go insane!

Please pray that I make some HUGE steps (pun intended) in therapy and can go back in at least two weeks!

To lighten up the shock of the news, after leaving the office, my mom took me to the one place she knew would cheer me up…the grocery store!!

And well, then the real MARVELOUSNESS began…

Scooterin'

Marvelous?…Maniacal?…Eh, close enough! πŸ˜‰

Publix Scooterin'Seriously, I had ENTIRELY too much fun with this…

And may or may not have tried to find a way to fit this baby into the back of my car!

Back at the house, mom and I fixed some salads for lunch and then while she helped me with a bit of food prep, I was able to teach her a few things…like how to slice into and remove the seeds from a pomegranate and how to bake a spaghetti squash!

Spaghetti SquashI tried to teach her a few of my #strangebutgood ways while testing out some of the spaghetti squash after baking, but I just couldn’t win her over with my peanut flour, BBQ seasoning, and FROG jam combo…

Hmm, more for me! πŸ˜€

As for the rest of the squash, I had big plans for dinner that night…big plans involving this recipe andΒ this tomato sauce! And of course what would plans be without a little auto correct #fail to the man-friend…

Tomato Sauce TextHippopotamus? πŸ˜‰

Thanks to the man-friend’s help in the kitchen (he and my mom switched places as Heather’s babysitter for the night), dinner turned out…

Laura's Spaghetti Squash PieMARVELOUSLY deeee-licious!

Seriously, if you haven’t made Laura’s Spaghetti Squash Pie, I totally recommend it!

The next day, the man-friend rescued me from yet another day of couch banishment with Β a MARVELOUS trip OUTSIDE where I got to SEEΒ the SUN!

Sky

So where did we go?

Well, I may or may not have told him about how much fun I’d had with mom at Publix the Β day before and…

Sam's Club Scooterin'SAMs club WAS just a few minutes down the road! πŸ˜‰

Along with testing out the turn radius of my newly acquired wheels, getting my fill of free food samples, and otherwise having the time of my life (hey, it’s the little things), I happened across a bit of childhood nostalgia…

Sam's Club Finds

I ended up putting the game back (sorry, Pac!), but WILLOW?! There was no WAY I was passing that up!

Unfortunately, after two outings in one weekend, my body decided it had had enough…

Bad Leg

Notice the cankle? See the difference?

So the man-friend went home to take care of some stuff, and I spent the rest of the weekend BACK on the couch, but this time hanging with my other “man”…

Kitty CuddlesSuch a little love slut! πŸ˜‰

Seriously, he was stuck to me like GLUE! Lol

What made your weekend MARVELOUS?

Who wants to pitch in on the “Get Heather a Hover Round Fund”?
It’s for a good cause! πŸ˜‰

Oh my god that granny-car in the supermarket cracks me up. I want to go shopping with yoi and sit in one too! Imagine how fun….sorry your body complained about bei g outside and you had to go back to the couch. I can’t handle the cuteness of your cat! Aaaawwwww….
Ssssso sad, Spaghetty Squash is over here πŸ™
Have a marvelous Couch-Monday love! xxx

  2. katie says:

I will pitch in BUT I know you will be back to new SO soon! 3 weeks, yikes! Sending prayers that you will make a faster progress, but just be smart and enjoy these 3 weeks off, not soooo bad right πŸ˜‰ just trying to see the positive, hehe!

Love the pics of you on the hover round, too funny! I bet you had fun with that at the grocery store both times πŸ˜‰

Happy Monday love and good luck tomorrow at your first day of therapy! <3

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, thank you SO much Katie! I love how you always see the positive in things! Therapy went really well! And actually, even after only having my second appointment day, I’m already starting to show some improvement! πŸ˜€

  3. I always ruin my nail polish from being impatient. Dies Essie nail polish chip easily? I’ve been searching for a good non chip nail polish and I’ve heard good things about Essie.

Your cat is so cute! I’m desperate for a cat but our landlord won’t let us get one in our apartment so I have to make do with having lots of cat pictures on my phone and living vicariously through other people who own them. That sounds a little creepy really!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I think Essie is one of the better ones for not chipping, but the only thing I hate is that it seems to take FOREVER to dry…hence the smudging! πŸ™

  4. Im much more into celebrating st patricks day with green food than alcohol as well haha! yummmm! food>drink!
Hope you start to make some progress at your therapy soon!! At least you get some fun in the cart..whizzing up and down the aisles! Looks like so much fun!
So jealous of that spaghetti squash pie too..I am still yet to find one..*cry* πŸ™

  5. Hahaha I am the SAME WAY When I paint my nails! I used the quick dry top coat but I still manage to mess it up!

That spaghetti squash pie sounds awesome!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I finally found a solution! A few months ago, I picked up a can of that fast-dry spray stuff…and then proceeded to bury it under the bathroom sink and forget about it…well, I pulled it out yesterday as I was doing my nails and TA-DAAAAA! Smudge free! πŸ˜€

  6. Oh my goodness. Three weeks until you can go back? That’s insane!! I would die… HEHE. But we are supposed to be oh-so-positive and supportive, right? πŸ™‚ Maybe you should start up some new tv shows and write some reviews… Or just do your thing in the kitchen. I’d love reading about that too πŸ™‚

  7. I can only imagine the grocery shopping fun in that motorized cart!!! Hilarious! I’m sure you’ll be back to work in no time…so for now, enjoy hanging out, relaxing and recovering!! πŸ™‚

  8. Haha is it bad that now I’m secretly hoping for an excuse to use one of those things? That’s too funny. And I’m so bad with smudging nail polish, it’s ridiculous. I just don’t like waiting around for it to try.

Hoping you have a quick recovery! I’d get bored without working for that long too.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Girl, be careful what you wish for! Like seriously, a few weeks before all this went down, I told a co-worker, “man, it would be great just to have a few weeks off!” 😯

  9. Your poor cankles!! I showed my mom the IG pic of you and your hover round. She loved it and says we can proceed with the adoption! πŸ˜‰

3 more weeks out of work?! That sounds awesome at first but I think after week 1 I’d get bored. Poor you! If you need aero cal field trip, you know where to find me!

So so so glad you guys liked the pie! And it turned out so well!! You are on good hands. Love you!!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Yessssss! Hey, if the adoption goes through before I’m better, does that mean I get your mama’s “sick food”?! πŸ˜€

And seriously…today? Bored out of my miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiind! Blah!

  10. Heather! I laughed so hard at your grocery photos. Amazing. Also, your CANON of sauce looks delicious.:)

  11. Oh my word, there’s so much going on in this post I don’t even know where to begin. Three more weeks sounds awful, your ankle is a beast (I’m sorry; it’s true), and you look a little crazy in that first picture, but I totally understand why. At least your hair was done and they gave you a scooter. I hope PT goes well and you are back on your feet in no time. In the meantime, you have your sweet kitty to take care of you. Oh and Willow and Kya. I can practically hear those two crying out each others names. Get better soon Boo.

  12. LOVE that OPI nail polish color!! I am the same way when it comes to painting my nails…I am way too impatient. That is probably why I rarely paint them! πŸ˜‰

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I just redid my nails yesterday and used that fast-dry aerosol spray…worked like a dream!! The impatient nail-painter’s dream! Lol

  13. I’m afraid I can’t help with the Hover fund, but I’m more than willing to offer my services as a live-in babysitter if you have a room to spare. I need to stop complaining about the weather up here, but it’s just been miserable and I could definitely use some sunshine and warmth. Sending good vibes for a speedy recovery!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Well you’re in luck, because I just happen to have TWO rooms to spare! I’ll make you pancakes if you promise to bring me coconut Oikos! πŸ˜‰

Thanks for the good vibes, babe! Hope you get at least a peek of sunshine this week! If it makes you feel any better, it’s been gloomy here since Monday and they’re calling for snow tomorrow! 😯

  14. Do you think your mom would have been down with my favorite nooch + salsa + hummus + relish (with the optional sauerkraut + BBQ seasoning) combo on spaghetti squash? πŸ™‚

I got to ride one of those carts once when I was working at Central Market and I enjoyed it WAY too much. [I wasn’t very good at driving it, but that is a different story.]

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Well, being as she JUST started adding avocado to her salads, I’m gonna go with a no on that one! Hahaha!

We need to have a scooter race! πŸ˜€

  15. what a eventful day for you..and Im glad you are slowly getting better YAY πŸ™‚ your mom and man friend is amazing πŸ™‚ I need to look for that tomato sauce ASAP!! I have no patience with nail polish either but it bothers me if I ruin even a little bit- My weekend was pretty relaxing, did nothing for Green Day besides eating copious amount of avocado hummus πŸ˜› Have a great Monday and rest of the week.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Mmm, love avocado hummus! Thanks so much for the well wishes! And yes, I am truly blessed to have some amazing people in my life…I seriously have no idea what I would have done without their help over the last couple of weeks!

  16. Haha! Looks like you had a lot of fun Cruising around on the riding carts. I’ve always thought they looked like fun!
I do the same thing when painting my nails! I always wonder how miss Katie (HealthyDivaLife) get’s her nail polish to look so perfect. My excuse is that I have a toddler πŸ˜‰ Although I will say I tried out a mint green this weekend and did the best paint job I’ve done in a long time. It’s already chipping away since I wash my hands a gabillion times a day but it looked good for a few days πŸ™‚
Hope you are getting some rest today!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, thanks hon! I’ve been resting up for sure and also seeing some improvement from my PT appointments. Crossing my fingers that I’ll be able to put weight on it by next week!

Too funny, I ALWAYS think of Katie every time I paint my nails! And I know the feeling, since I work at a hospital and am washing my hands constantly, even the best manicures usually only last about 2 days! Boo!

  17. Your cat is soooo cute!

I love that Essie colour – is it Turquoise and Caicos? That’s one of my favourites :).

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Yes ma’am! One of mine as well!

Oh, and I’ve been meaning to email you…for some reason I can never post a comment on your blog! It has all the spaces for me to fill out with my information and the comment, but the “send” button is missing? πŸ™

      • Hi Heather! Thank you for mentioning this – I had 1 other person bring this up to me but others have had no issue so I think it may just be my theme’s poor usability in that that link must be hard to see. However the last girl I wrote back to I never heard back about so I don’t know whether she was still experiencing problems or not. I know you’re very busy but if you have a moment to try leaving a comment by following directions below and tweet/email or however you want to get in touch and let me know if it worked?

Thank you! So basically there’s the regular comment form at the bottom and then instead of send the link is “Post”. I see it ok but please tell me if that still did not work and if not perhaps let me know how you were viewing my site (browser/mobile/Bloglovin’ etc) and I will follow up with my designer.

Thank you 1 million times over!

        • kissmybroccoli says:

Well…I commented on your black bean and butternut squash wrap (yum!), but after I hit “post” (which I could see THIS time), it went blank. Hopefully it went through! πŸ˜€

          • It worked! My Akismet is a little over-zealous when it comes to spamming comments so I just had to approve it so it would show up.

Yeah, I think the only problem is that some people are finding the Post button a little hard to spot, so I will work my designer friend to change its appearance now that I know that that’s the only issue – thanks for persevering!! πŸ™‚

          • kissmybroccoli says:

Awesome!! Yeah, maybe if it had some sort of box or outline around it to draw more attention to it…I swear I never even saw it before you pointed it out to me…I was like, “what in the world?!?” Haha!

  18. Lisa says:

Ah, sending you positive vibes for your knee to heal!!! I hope things start improving. I know how hard it can be to basically be told to do nothing for a long period of time. Brutal, but just keep up the good attitude and you’ll get through it! At least you can blog πŸ˜‰
I’ve been dying to try Laura’s spaghetti squash pie, I need to find more spaghetti squash first oh and I tried you samoa pancakes this weekend, and I just about died. SO delicious!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I’m still giddy that you tried my pancakes…and SO happy they turned out well! You have GOT to try Laura’s pie! It’s so good! And did you see the Mexican version she posted the other day? Definitely trying that soon…well once I buy another squash! It’s funny, I always forget just how much I love spaghetti squash until I actually make it!

Thanks for the good vibes gorgeous! Hope you’re having a great weekend! πŸ˜€

  19. Oh my goodness, I love your face in that picture! I cannot tell you how tempted I was to ride in one of those carts in Louisiana πŸ˜›

I would so pitch into the get Heather a hover round fund – but you’d have to let me have a ride ;P

I am hoping that knee of yours heals pronto! and it should with all those delicious eats!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Why but of course! Free rides to ALL my beloved sponsors! πŸ˜‰

Thanks for the well wishes lady! I’ve had two PT sessions so far, and am already showing a bit of improvement! Yay! πŸ˜€

  20. I had a cankle like that in the summer when I got stung by a bee!! I swelled like a balloon and my boyfriend had to help me hobble around. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to ride around in the carts at the store…

  21. Girl!! If you get one I get one!
And I totally just painted my nails two colors, one of them Essie Mint Candy Apple! I’ve kept it in my favs rotation going on 2 yrs now and love it!!
I wanna go cruising around with you in a motor scooter.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Well, come on over! If you leave first thing in the morning, you should be able to make it in time to take me to my next PT appointment…then we’ll hit up the shops on the way back! πŸ˜‰ Lol

  22. I’ve been having an eh day and the photos of you on the hoover just made my day marvelous!
I’ve always called them rascals. I wouldn’t even be able to control myself ahaha.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, I’m so happy to bring a little light to your day! Hope things are better today, love! The scooter was seriously unbelievable! And guess what? It went even faster in REVERSE! πŸ˜‰ Bahaha!

  23. Hahaha you are so funny! I’ve always wanted to try driving one of those carts around the grocery store. Sorry you have to stay off work for so long though – I would probably get really bored too. But I hope you find a way to pass the time and enjoy yourself! πŸ™‚

I do the same thing whenever I have nail polish on! That’s why I pretty much never get manicures – I stick to pedicures because I figure there’s less of a chance of me messing them up. πŸ˜›

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thanks girlie! The boredom got to me a little bit today, but I did my best to make the most of it…the puzzle I’m working on is kicking my butt! Lol

  24. Haha this post cracked me up because I always used to want to drive those carts as a kid and would even pretend to injure myself walking into the store to that my mom would let me. I always just ended up having to ride in the regular cart though, hah! You and Laura both have me craving spaghetti squash now but I can’t seem to get my hands on one!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha, that is too funny! Reminds me how I always (for some crazy reason) wanted glasses as a kid. I tried my hardest to get my mom to buy me some, but (luckily) she knew better! πŸ˜‰

Every time I cook spaghetti squash, I’m reminded how much I love it…I swear I want to eat it at every meal! Lol Hope you’re able to find one soon!

  25. Cait says:

HAHAHA I would love to ride around in one of those carts!! I hate ruining my nail polish to the extent that I won’t do ANYTHING with my hands for at least an hour after painting them. I am a brat and try to force people to do things for me πŸ™‚

  26. Madi says:

OMG WILLOW!!! I loved that movie as a kid! So glad someone else knows the beauty that is willow!

  27. I do the same thing when I paint my nails, which is why I gave up and stopped doing it! Even professional manicures never last on my nails!

Enjoy this time to relax and recover. I can only imagine how hard it is to not be able to just get up and do things, but take advantage of the time and enjoy your newly acquired wheels! πŸ™‚

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thank you so much, Melissa! It definitely has been hard…I swear there are times where I actually picture myself just getting up from the couch and walking into the next room…ugh! I’m getting there though! I have my third PT session tomorrow, and I’m already starting to notice some differences!

  28. LOVE that essie color, so pretty! I hope your PT goes well — 3 weeks is a long time, but don’t rush it! Enjoy some time off πŸ™‚ And those pics of your cat melted my heart — he is the sweetest!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thank you, Laurie! The Essie color is Turquoise and Caicos (one of my favorites). PT is going well…I had my second session today and am already showing improvement (yay!)

  29. Seriously, you can make fun out of ANY situation- and I LOVE IT.
That photo of you with the cart is freakin’ hilarious. TO DIE FOR!
Ahhhhh Willow… I haven’t seen it in SO long, but watched it over and over again as a kid. Guess I need to go buy my own cheapo copy!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Heehee! Always happy to entertain! πŸ˜€

And seriously, I’d completely forgotten about this movie until I spotted it on the shelf! I swear it’s been at LEAST 10 years since I’ve seen it!

  30. Kat says:

3 weeks!! holy smokes!! well I guess i was on summer break in highschool when I had mine done, so maybe that’s why they didn’t give me any restrictions. However I was also hardheaded and didnt listen to a thing they said. I was out bringing in groceries for my mom the DAY of the surgery. You know, just walking around with my leg wrapped from my hip to my toes, no big deal lol I was such a bad kid πŸ˜‰

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Holy crap! I can’t believe you were able to put weight on it that soon! The first 24 hours after my surgery were ridiculously painful! I didn’t even want to drink water because I knew I’d eventually have to get up to use the restroom! πŸ™

  31. Hi Heather, I just found your site via your comment on Kris’ Spabettie site. HOW have I not seen your blog before?? You seem so fun!! And, I too find grocery stores to be a happy place, I love the movie Willow and my cat Neva is also a slut! πŸ™‚ Best wishes for your continued recovery too. I look forward to reading more. All the best.

  32. Robyn :) says:

Awww, your baby is so cute!!!!

What made this weekend marvelous was going to the bike show in Topeka with my hubby, curry tofu for lunch, bowling, having church back in OUR building after several months of renovations, and the beginning of Spring break!!

I hope yout PT went well today and you get back to work soon.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Sounds like you definitely had a marvelous-filled weekend! Ugh, I haven’t been bowling in FOREVER! On the list of things to do once I can walk again! Haha! And thanks for the well wishes…PT went really well! I had a second session today and surprised myself with some of the progress I’ve already made! πŸ˜€

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww, really?! I plan on trying…key word there…to drive sometime this weekend. I’m not sure exactly how it’s going to work with maneuvering myself AND the crutches into the car (and then OUT of the car) but I am sooooooo sick of being trapped in this house! It’s killing me!
