A Marvelous WEEK!

Hello m’dears and happy Monday!

Before I get started with today’s post, I just have to share something I found that I thought was pretty neat…

Wordle

I saw Michelle use Wordle to make a collage of frequently used words on her blog and thought it would be fun to do one too! No surprise what the most popular word is after yesterday’s post! BUT…can you find the hidden blogger within? 😉

Now I know I normally join up with Katie on Mondays for an MIMM post, but when my gal Meghan decided to make a link-party out of her  “Week in Review” series, I just couldn’t resist…especially since this whole week has been FULL of excitement!

Week-In-Review-Button-Final

Sooooo, I decided to do BOTH!

Hopefully I don’t find myself in any awkward situations when they find out I’m a two-timer! 😉

On Tuesday, my MARVELOUS mama came over and helped me with some chores that I haven’t been able to manage with my peg-leg status: a mountain of dirty dishes and…

Marvelous Mama

Yeah, so yoga pants aren’t the only things in my house that’s covered in cat hair! 😉

I CAN BREEEEEEEEEEEATHE!!

I could breathe so well in fact that I even had a bit more energy! So when the man-friend came over (hey, don’t go getting all dirty-minded on me now!), we decided to go out!

Marvelous Sushi

Now I’m not sure if it was because it had been nearly THREE WEEKS since I’d had sushi or what, but I swear to you these were the BEST rolls I’ve ever tasted! We went to our favorite place in town, Fujiyama, and I ordered the Fancy Roll (shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, eel, avocado and massago w/ soybean paper) and the Passion Roll (fresh salmon, avocado, sweet mango & tobigo).

The man-friend got the smorgasbord-looking plate…can’t remember what all he got, but after a taste, I knew one thing for sure…mine was better!

Muahahaha! 😉

On Thursday, after my last PT appointment for the week, I asked my chauffeur (aka, my sister on that particular day) to swing by the grocery store on the way home. I did a bit of scooterin, grabbed a few necessities, and then set out on a (hopeful) Cho-mission…

Chobani Bites

Smack yo’ Mama! <- Well, unless she happens to be MARVELOUS like mine! 😉

I found, not one, not two, but all FOUR of the Chobani Bite flavors and so far, the caramel pineapple is my FAVORITE!

On Friday, I had my first solo PT session and well, I’ll be honest, it’s a LOT harder when you don’t have someone there to help/motivate you, but I gave it my all and (through some tears) managed to complete about half of what I was given…

Physical Therapy Exercises

Oh and I painted my toes! Which I realized is ridiculously hard to do when you can’t bring your foot closer to your body! Good thing I have long arms…and FINGERS!

Marvelous ManicurePurple ones!

And well, I don’t know if it was the continued effort in my exercises or if there are some sort of magical chemicals in my nail polish, but the next day, more MARVELOUSNESS ensued…

Car Trip

My first time behind the wheel in over TWO WEEKS! Ok, ok…so I just drove to the mailbox, but hey, you try going down my driveway in crutches! 😉

But yesterday, Elvira called out to me and I just couldn’t say no…

Car Trip 2

So where did I go on my first REAL car trip?

Physical Therapy Pool

Oh how I’ve missed my gym! I’m telling you, it was pure agony to hobble by the weights section AND hear the music from the Bodypump class going on at the time…soon, love…REAL SOON!

The physical therapist had mentioned water therapy and gave me a list of exercises I could perform. I may not have been the most graceful thing out there, but after about 10 minutes in the warm water of the therapy pool, it started getting a little easier! I worked at it for about 30 minutes and then crutched over to the hot tub for a 10 minute soak before heading back home.

Once back at the casa I whipped up something to eat and as I was hobbling over to the table with my food, I skipped a beat…

I looked down…

Wait, what just happened?

Did I just…?

I FREAKIN’ WALKED!!!

Yep! As I was trying to hold on to my water bottle, my food, AND my crutches, I ended up lifting up the crutch and taking a step without it! Guess the water therapy helped more than I thought!

Now I’m in no shape to start dancing a jig just yet…actually, I kinda look like a bird with a broken foot (think flapping wings in distress)…but hey it’s progress!

And THAT is always MARVELOUS!

And something MARVELOUS for YOU? Remember Slimkicker? Well, they’re hosting a giveaway for a FREE Bowflex Home Gym from now until the end of the month! 😀

Great to read that you’re leg is getting better! 😀 I cannot imagine what on earth I would do if I hurt one of my legs. I’m one of those people who does NOT like to be lazy so all that sitting around would just make my soul want to die inside :/ I guess it’s always wise to count our blessings 🙂
    Have a great week!

So true! And never to take for granted what our bodies CAN do for us! I swear I will never again complain about going to the gym…it is a PRIVILEGE for sure! Just gotta stay positive and persistent and I know I will get there soon enough! Thank you for the well wishes, sweetie! 🙂

  2. Hope the recovery keeps going well! That sushi looked amazing by the way. I had some on Friday with my bf for the first time in ages and it was very darn delicious too and made me wonder why I had left it so long between eating it.

Chobani Australia are very behind the times and have still not released Chobani Bites.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thank you so much, Jan! And don’t feel too bad…I’ve been hunting for these little bit buggers for weeks now…my town is always behind the times…I about fell out of my scooter when I saw these! 😉

  3. I’m an around the way girl, so I say the more the merrier (link ups that is). It appears we were both on a cat hair and nail polish rampage this past week, although I didn’t actually show pictures of either. I think you should turn your word art into fridge magnets and then we can have some fun.
By the way, your ankle and knee, while still pretty swollen, looks significantly better and water therapy is tremendously helpful. Who knows, maybe you’ll end up being a lap girl (I mean swimming laps) before you know. So proud of your first step and glad food was somehow a part of it; it seems only fitting.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha, YES! LINK UPS, not Hook uhh… 😉 Omg, kitchen magnets!!! That would be flippin’ AWESOME!

And too funny, I didn’t even make the correlation until you mentioned it…brings new meaning to “the healing power of food” huh? 😉

  4. I still haven’t seen the Chobani Bite flavors near me yet!! 🙁

That’s so sweet of your mama to come over and help you out! I hope you’re doing well!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thanks girlie! I’m doing better now that I’m FINALLY seeing results…I’ve been doing my best to stay positive, but I’ll admit, all this hobbling around being hopeless was getting OLD! Lol

I was surprised to find the Bites at Wal-Mart (and today I even spotted a couple of Flips!)! We also have a Kroger and a Publix, but I’ve yet to see them get any in! :-/

  5. Aren’t Mums the best?! Loving the nail polish and that sushi looks amazing, reminds me I must eat some very soon 🙂

Well done on the walking…glad you had a wonderful and marvelous week and weekend!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

So true!! I seriously don’t know what I would have done over the last few weeks without her! 🙂

Thank you so much for the support, Danielle! It feels so good to finally SEE some improvement! If all goes well, I hope to be completely crutch-free by the end of the week! 😀

  6. Darn. I forgot to fill out the name, email and website and just lost my comment. NOOO! 🙁 Ok. Quick recap.

Way to go on that first step. You’ll be dancing the jig in no time. Haha. And yay for getting to go to the gym, even if it’s just for a water workout.

Oh, is the blogger in wordle (love wordle) Allie? 😀

Love your nails by the way. You did a great job. Oh, and my mother would kill me if I put pictures of her cleaning up on my blog. Lol. I have yet to post a pic with my family yet, except for the occasional hand-in-picture when I ask them to hold a plate or something.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

It just made my day to know that you took the time to retype your comment! Aww, I feel so loved! 😀 Thanks for the support sweetie! Ya know…I have half a mind to post a video of myself dancing my jig once this is all said and done with! Lol

And yeah, my friends and family pretty much expect to be showcased on the blog now…there are few months when they get any say in the matter! hahaha!

  7. katie says:

Your mom is SO pretty and looks so young, can’t get over how young!

YAY for your leg getting better by the days, I know you are excited for that and soon you will be back at the gym and back to normal!

OH sushi, girlllllll I have been without my raw sushi rolls for 6.5 months now! I am dying over here, I could handle 3 weeks, lol! YUM!

Happy Monday and I am glad you decided to join in on both of our weekly link ups! Thank you!! <3

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh honey, I can only IMAGINE the feast that is gonna go down after Baby G is born! Sushi and WIIIIIINE! Lol

Thank you for always leaving the sweetest comments! Love you and I hope you are having one MARVELOUS week, m’dear! xox

  8. I had sushi this weekend too…it really is marvelous! Glad to see the improvements in the knee! I can’t even remember the last time I went swimming/went to an indoor pool in general.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh I know…and so does my computer since I had to wipe the drool from my keyboard after eyeing all that delicious eel you and the boy got! Mmmm, my favorite!

  9. Yay for progress!! Great news Babe!!! ANd that Sushi…..yumm. I am sending you literally LOVE and ENERGY for a fast recovery, thanks to your oh so fast reply!! 🙂
    xxx

  10. Woohoo! You are healing up! I agree that the car drive to the mailbox was the best call there! Love that color on your nails. I really need to make time to paint mine. I just feel so much more prissy when mine are painted. I hope it’s a great week for you!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I know, right? I feel like a teenage girl sometimes when I catch myself admiring my own manicure! Lol

      Hope you’re having a great (cabbage-filled) week, love! 😉

  11. Glad you’re slowly coming back to life, dear!
I love your word collage. And in that photo with your mom… is that a BLEND shirt I see?
I’ve only tried the coffee and fig Chobani bites and really want to try the caramel. Glad to know it’s worth it!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha, good eye m’dear! It’s so funny, every time I see someone post a pic wearing their Blend tee I get the goofiest grin on my face! I swear, May cannot come soon enough! I’ve now tried all the flavors and I have to say the caramel is DEFINITELY the best…followed by the raspberry! I was a little disappointed in the lack of “figgyness” in the fig one. What did you think?

  12. I am so so so happy you’re feeling better! Not at all surprised your first trip out alone was to the gym. You are such a rockstar.

How is flour bigger than pancake on your word cloud?!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I know, right? It was seriously agony though to see everyone running around that place! I thought about hobbling over to the weights for a couple of bicep curls! 😉

I was a little disappointed that “pancakes” wasn’t bigger too, but then I realized that it must only go back a few posts since Allie’s name and “drugs” made it in there! Lol

  13. Oh I’m so craving sushi now and it’s not even 7:00am! You have had some marvelous happenings! Love the little drive in your car down the driveway. Hey like you said better than hobbling down it in crutches!

  14. You walked! You better believe that I’ll be dancing a jig for you until you can dance one for yourself… which will hopefully be soon!

I did one of those Worlde things for my blog way back in the day and my biggest word ended up being almond, followed by love. Apparently I like my almonds? And I’m with Laura ^^ How were pancakes not your biggest word?! I mean, I guess all pancakes have flour, but still!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, thanks sweetheart! Be sure to throw in a few awkward and rhythmless white girl moves for me? Because you know, that is how it goes down when no one’s watching! 😉

And I thought the same thing until I realized that it must only go back a few posts or so…otherwise I’m sure pancakes and peanut butter would me ginormous! Haha!

  15. You are so funny! Sounds like you had fun with your momma! Thank you for sharing the Week In Review. I’m going to check that out. Have a great Monday!!!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thanks Lauren! I love making people laugh…you know, when I’m not too busy laughing at myself! And if you like my humor, you’re gonna LOVE Meghan! 😀

  16. Hooray for healing! : ) ..and pineapple caramel chobani. That is all kinds of right. Count.Me.In.

  17. LOVE your fingernails! What a pretty color and design. I need to get more creative with mine!

  18. Allie says:

I’m not sure what it says about me and your blog, that I get to be Wordle-featured–I have a bad habit, and the only solution is more broccoli blog 😉

YES for healing! So glad to hear you’re up and at it! And actually walking!

  19. Yayyy!!!! You poor thing with your knee.. I’m so glad you walked by yourself though. That is awesome!! <3

  20. The wordle is just too fun. Yay for the walking!! Water therapy can be awesome to help with mobility and speed recovery . . . what a great idea!! Plus, it’s nice just to get out, right? I’m now craving sushi . . . Bob and I declare “sushi Friday’s” every other week (wish it were every Friday, but it can get a bit expensive) and this Friday it’s on our agenda. 🙂

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh I hear ya…the man-friend and I can do some serious damage at our local sushi bar! But it’s worth every penny…especially since I’m pretty sure any “attempt” at homemade rolls would leave me with not only an awful mess but a bad attitude! Lol

And YES, it feels SO good to be out of the house…even if I am just going 10 minutes down the road! And if the sun would come out for just a LITTLE bit it would be even BETTER! 🙂

  21. glad to know you are feeling better 🙂 totally digging that nail polish. Rolls are calling my name there now! have a marvelous monday

  22. haha I pretty much immediately went to that Wordle site and made my own collage! So fun! But I think it just takes the most recent words because I’m pretty sure “rape” is not frequently used on my blog!

    Yay for miracle walking!! 😉

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Yeah, I’m thinking it only goes back a few posts…especially since “drugs” happen to pop up in mine as well! Lol

  23. Are you sure your mom isn’t your sister!? She looks so young!

so excited you were able to walk! My roomie just had knee surgery so I completely understand the whole at home PT thing and walking. It’s definitely a big accomplishment!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, thank you, Maria! You are TOO sweet! And seriously (since she reads the blog), you’re gonna make my mom’s day when she sees this! 😀

  24. It’s nice for your mom to help you with the cleaning. That is sweet. 🙂
Your pics just made me crave for sushi! YUM!
Your nail polish is so cute by the way. I didn’t know how to do my own mani but I just did my nails last week for the first time. I’m learning!

I wish you fast recovery! Get well and yay for driving again! 🙂

BTW, I am going to try Wordle! Thanks!!! 🙂

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, thank you SO much, Ja! It’s slow, but it’s definitely steady…hoping to be completely crutch-free by the end of the week! 🙂

It’s funny, I used to HATE painting my nails…the act of painting and I just never thought my hands looked good with colored nails, but now I love it…and have a pretty unhealthy obsession with Essie nail polish now! Lol

  25. Isn’t wordle awesome?! I use it in my classroom for names and vocabulary! So excited you walked.. Definitely a marvelous Monday for ya 🙂

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh wow, what a great idea to get the kids interested! Thank you lady! Hope you’re having a great week full of weird foodie delightment! 😉

  26. Pancakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 🙂 So glad you are getting better!! Rehab is tough sh*t! Hang in there!!!

  27. Lee says:

I see the word Allie there. And also drugs. Ha!

  28. Yay! I’m so glad recovery is going well for you! You’re going to be back on your feet in no time! 🙂

Omg, it’s been nearly 3 weeks since I last had sushi too! Unacceptable. I need to get some ASAP!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

What?! That’s craziness! I had an excuse…but I expect so much better from you, Chelsea! Too bad I can’t teleport myself to Canandaland…I’d totally show up on your doorstep with PLENTY of seaweed salad and all the salmon and avocado rolls I could find! 😀

  29. Walking! Yay! I’m so happy for you that your on your way to recovery.

  30. Emily says:

YAY! I can’t even imagine how painful and frustrating your recovery must be. But, it seems like you’re moving along really well! And the fact that you’ve managed to stay so positive throughout it all is so inspiring.

    LOVE that nail polish!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thank you, Emily! I’ll admit, there have been a few moments where it was hard to keep my chin up, but now that I’m actually SEEING some changes, I’m excited and ready to see more! 😀

The colors are by Essie: Smooth Sailing (and older one I found at TJ Maxx) and Lilacism for the accent!

  31. Ahh! CONGRATS on the big (baby) steps!! You’ll be a jiggin’ away before you can say “flour,” my friend. <– Speaking of, it doesn't surprise me that that's your most commonly used word. I mean, without it, your stacks of pancake perfection would be more like blobs of pancake perfection. Still delicious, just not quite as pretty. 😉 (By the way, I'm still dreaming about the Samoa Cookie Pancake recipe I bookmarked last week–I just need to get buckwheat flour and I'll be good to go!).

The sushi rolls looks uhmaazing. As you know, I've been on a MAJOR sushi kick this week, and the cravings won't subside! Is it possible to OD on raw fish?

Sending hugs and more healing vibes your way! <3 xoxo

    • kissmybroccoli says:

“…blobs of pancake perfection” Haha! Sara, I always love reading your comments! And you will LOVE the Samoas…just PLEASE get the groats and grind them yourself…I meant to mention in my post on Sunday, but I swear the buckwheat flour that comes preground tastes like dirt! It’s SO earthy that it’s hard to make anything sweet out of it…stack OR blob! 😉

I sure as heck hope you can’t OD, because I seriously can’t get enough. Even after I got my FILL (believe me…there was nothing else going in my belly that night!) I was still drooling all over myself when I saw your gorgeous caterpillar roll!

  32. I think that sushi would have tasted amazing regardless of how long its been since you’ve been out of the house, yum! Im impressed with your physical therapy dedication, especially driving to the gym to get in the pool. I remember when I was doing physical therapy for some minor knee issues in high school I lasted about a week before giving up and losing the band I was supposed to use for my exercises, hah!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh girl, I seriously have been craving more sushi since the moment we left! Luckily, the man-friend is just as obsessed as I am…don’t think he’s ever turned it down! Lol

I had therapy for a bad ankle sprain once. I made a lot of progress in PT, but I NEVER did the at-home exercises they gave me…simply because I was lazy. I’d come in for an appointment and they’d be like, “Have you been doing your flexion moves?” and I’d be like, “Yep yep!” 😉

  33. Jessie says:

Your car looks pretty! I hope you were safe and buckled in that crutch of yours. I would hate for you to slam on your breaks and BAM there goes a flying crutch through your windshield 🙂

  34. Congrats!! So awesome that you walked already, I’m glad your PT is going soo well!! It looks like you really did have an amazing week!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thank you so much Laurie! I really am excited to have seen so much progress in so little time! Here’s hoping I’ll be completely crutch free by the end of the week! 😀

  35. Hooray for recovery! 🙂

I really want some sushi now. That Passion Roll sounds heavenly. Or maybe I just want pickled ginger. Hard to say.

Glad you found all of the Cho–I knew pineapple caramel would be your favorite, because it is mine, and we have the same tastebuds. I’m guessing the orange fig comes in second…

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I know what you mean girlie…I swear I need to start asking for extra ginger when they bring out the plate! Lol

And is it just me or is the fig one not very “figgy”? I mean, I get that it has pieces of fig in it, but all I can taste is ORANGE! <- like in yo' face, "Ahhh!"

  36. Wordle is such a fun idea! I did mine and my biggest word was “really”. What can I say, I like to emphasize haha 😉 Love your nails by the way!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! I’m surprised mine wasn’t delicious…I swear sometimes I have to break out the thesaurus so I don’t have it in the post like 20 times! Lol

And thanks…the colors are by Essie…Smooth Sailing and Lilacism for the accent!

  37. I’m so glad to hear that your leg is feeling that much better! Awesome! And I love that collage, so fun!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thank you so much, Heidi! And the collage was super fun to play with…you can change the colors, direction of the words, or you can even make up your own by just typing random words in…yeah, I think I lost about an hour of my life on that website! lol

  38. Kat says:

Woot woot you walk away lady!! Like I said, I was the naughty patient who was walking the day OF surgery, but Im sure obeying the docs orders will serve you much better than what I did! lol
And water therapy is SOOO good for the legs!! I actually ran on a water treadmill for my therapy. They seriously locked me in a see through box on a treadmill, it filled up with water, and I would run/walk on it!! It was tons of fun, and really helped my leg get going again!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh wow, that sounds so cool! Although I STILL can’t wrap my head around the fact that you were walking the day OF your surgery…well, I guess it wasn’t too bad that first night due to the anesthesia still being in my system…but I woke up the next day and wanted to DIE! I’ve actually used that day as a gauge for my pain…it was undoubtedly the worst!

  39. Woo Hoo! You’ll be up and dancing in no time! I can’t wait to check out Wordle. I’m not sure what the most frequently used word is on my site, but one of the most frequently used google search to find me is “rude carrot”. Continued good healing to you from me in Vancouver!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ok, so my curiosity always gets the best of me (one of the MANY reasons I come up with so many weird food combos) so I just HAD to Google that…omg, I just laughed my ass off! I’ve seen some interesting carrots, but that is BY FAR the best! Now I need a shower…because I feel dirty! 😉

  40. Attending not one but two parties at the same time? Girl, you really can’t enough, huh?! I’ll grant you that once for once, though 😉 – regarding all the marvelousness you had going on.
I’m so happy you were able to walk a few steps! I’ll do a happy dance for you until you can do it yourself :). Keeping my fingers crossed that’ll happen soon!
Aw, it’s so sweet of your mum to come over and help you out. It can’t be said often enough: Mums are the best.

  41. STUFT Mama says:

So glad you’re feeling better! Yay for walking and for being able to take a long drive. 🙂 Oh those Chobani bite cups- my favorite!!!

  42. Pingback: Intuitively GREEN! |

  43. You walked!!! YAY!!!! Love it!
Your mom is gorgeous!! Now we know where you get it. 😉
