Which Came First?

What up, guys?!

So, you’d think after a round of slutty brownies AND a slice of chocolate SEX cake this weekend, I’d be sprawled out in bed smoking a cigarette ready to move on to salads and smoothies, but oh no, the best was yet to come! <- Lol!

Who’s up for a sushi ORGY?! 😉

After the birthday festivities on Saturday night, the man-friend and I contemplated what to have for dinner on the way back to Nashville…

As we played around with the Urbanspoon app on my phone, there was talk of Mexican…Italian…and jokes about going to Shoney’s (I’m assuming the man-friend was joking because I might have to reevaluate our relationship if he was being serious). We finally decided on Gondola House Pizzeria for a night of cheese-loving pizza noshing, but on the way there, the man-friend suddenly remembered a sushi place nearby. Are you really surprised that in the end it came down to those two? Ha!

But this wasn’t just ANY sushi place…

This was an ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT sushi place!!!

Actually Koi was an entire Japanese MEGA buffet, but once I spotted that lineup of mouth-watering sushi, everything else just disappeared!

IMG_5795

Well, except for the frickin’ VAT of seaweed salad around the corner!

OMG!!!!

I mean seriously? Just bring that entire platter to my table, right Chelsea?

I only WISH I could have channeled Debbie’s bottomless sushi-eating stomach for the night, but alas I only managed one plate. I was actually pretty proud of myself of realizing my satiety (another buffet win!) and not making myself sick!

After our meal, we tore into our fortune cookies…

…in bed! 😆

Then, after yelling at the man-friend for keeping this place a secret from me for over SEVEN months, I proceeded to butter him up while I BEGGED him to bring me back before we even left the restaurant!! Lol

But the good eats (and chances for me to make even more sexual references) didn’t stop there…

On Sunday, after a trip to the local farmers’ market to load up on fruits and veggies for the week, the man-friend finally took me to Instanbul for my first taste of
TURKISH food!

We both ordered the doner sandwich…thinly sliced steak stuffed into a perfectly light and fluffy pita along with lettuce, onion, tomato, and feta along with a bowl of tzatziki that I wanted to bathe in! Seriously guys, this picture doesn’t even BEGIN do it justice! You should have seen the SIZE of this thing…it was HUGE!!

Yep, for lunch, I had a huge thing of MEAT slathered in WHITE STUFF!

WIAW TealSo yeah, while I do my best to prepare for my SIXTH GRADE graduation as a
THIRTEEN YEAR OLD BOY, why don’t you guys head over to Peas & Crayons and check out the eats from the more mature bloggers out there!

Or you can just tell me a dirty joke in the comments!

  1. Hmm trying to think of a dirty joke. I can’t ‘come’ up with one sorry 😉

    (yep terrible!)

OMG that sushi place sounds AMAZING! An all you can eat place sounds like a dream come true. (Yes ‘come’). hehe

Ok I think I need to walk away from this comment now. Very very quickly

  2. Fran@BCDC says:

Looks like a gyro to me. We have a local diner that does a veggie gyro which is SO good! Have a great day, Heather!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

It basically was only with steak instead of lamb! Hmmm, a veggie gyro? Do they just stuff it with falafel and veggies?

  3. I don’t think I know many dirty jokes! I’m just really good at whipping out “That’s what she said”s at the best moments. 😀

Look at all that seaweed salad! I’m pretty sure if you and I ever ate there together we would just pull up our chairs to that buffet station and eat straight from the vat haha!

  4. That sushi place sounds amazing! I think I would have had little control around the sushi! It’s one of my favorite special occasion meals!

  5. My best dirty jokes tend to revolve around TWSS – don’t mess with a classic, right?
And oh god, that seaweed salad. I would flat out dive into that thing, seaweed salad is amazing.
And you may have just triggered a pita craving…I foresee a trip to Pita Pit in my future 😉

    • kissmybroccoli says:

MUST EAT ALL THE SEAWEED SALAD!!!!!

Ohhhh, that means I get to drool over future pictures of Pita Pit deliciousness! haha! I swear everything you get from that place always looks so good!

And oh yes, you just can’t go wrong with a good TWSS comment! 😉

  6. I can’t help you with the dirty jokes. All I do is giggle at them or add in a “that’s what she said” here and there…and then giggle some more. 😉

A sushi buffet would make me nervous…didn’t the raw fish thing in a buffet make you nervous?? Maybe I’m just paranoid after one awful nutrition class where I was nearly scared out of eating at a restaurant period.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I would be nervous at some places, but these guys were pulling up plates before they were even cleared and setting out new ones…and you could tell that they were made fresh. But I will say I thought twice about the oyster bar all by itself in the corner!

  7. My boyfriend is obsessed with eating sushi. Even though some people think it can be a little fishy, it tastes fresh as long as you prepare it right. Sushi comes in so many different colors and flavors, it’s incredible!

(^^^that’s my lame attempt at a dirty sushi innuendo.)

    • kissmybroccoli says:

BAHAHAHA!!! Yeah, thanks for spelling it out for this sleep-deprived gal over here…I had to read it twice before I got it and then I was like OMG!! 😯 Lol

  8. It will be like a whole new restaurant when you go the next time… Just focus on the other meals versus the sushie. Haha. Great way to not get tired of a place! (But it doesn’t sound like you will be falling out of love with sushi anytime soon anyways 🙂 ).

Fortune cookies + In bed = So funny. Seriously makes the meal when out with friends.

  9. WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME ABOUT THE SEAWEED SALAD VAT?!?!?!?!

  10. I’m so happy that I wasn’t the only one who thought the ‘come’ joke was hilarious. You’ve undoubtedly made food porn slightly more enjoyable… If that was possible. BUT THAT SUSHI! Ugh. I’m deprived.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Well, I’m just glad to know I’m not the only one who has the sense of humor of a teenage boy! 😉 And seriously, it’s only been four days since that sushi night and I’m beginning to feel deprived already! Ha!

  11. Nothing better than all you can eat sushi!!! My favorite. I also love me some meat hahaha

  12. Wow you’re having some AMAZING meals! Haha an all you can eat sushi bar sounds amazing (although I don’t know if I’d get my money’s worth with cucumber rolls… maybe some avocado rolls?) haha

  13. Haha, meat slathered in white stuff. Sometimes I get the most inappropriate thoughts in my head while writing about food—wine is even worse, thanks to all the talk about “finishes” and whatnot. I know wayyyy too many dirty jokes, but I’d have to say my patients at work totally outdo me. I heard one the other day with a punchline that went something like, “I’ll keep an eye out for you!”

  14. I’m such a sushi fiend I think I’d even pick it over slutty brownies (shock horror!) so I totally feel you on this one! Looks amazing!

  15. That sushi looks SO good! I have been craving it, but I can’t have it for another 9 months, unfortunately! 🙁

I also love turkish food! There was a great restaurant that we used to go to in Sacramento and I miss it so much, now that we moved. I guess it’s an excuse to attempt to make some at home!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ahhhh! I just saw your tweet! I’ve gotten WAAAAAAAAAY behind in blog reading and had no idea you were expecting again! Congratulations, lovie!! Oh, and I hope those brownies squashed that craving for ya! Did you make them by the recipe or put a spin on it like I did with the pretzels?

  16. I have never tried Turkish food, but I am really intrigued! Did you notice if it was very vegetarian friendly?

    • kissmybroccoli says:

It’s pretty close to Greek cuisine, but with a few subtle differences in some of the meats and spices. The menu was pretty meat heavy, but they did have tabouleh, Greek salad, hummus and baba ganoush for apps and a good-sized falafel or veggie platter for entrees. I’m definitely trying the falafel next time!

  17. I have never laughed so hard through a blog post in my life. Oh I miss you friend! xoxo

  18. I would definitely skip the all you can eat sushi, but I would never skip on the beautiful sandwich of MEAT…I could eat a lot of those. LOVE it!

  19. I LOVE sushi but have never been to an all you can eat sushi buffet. Sounds intriguing and looks delicious!

  20. I am SO with you on the seaweed salad. That vat is nothing for me. And happy 6th grade graduation. 😉

  21. Dana says:

All you can eat sushi is the best thing! So dangerous for me though! Who knew it could be so filling!

  22. Hahahahaha!!! I looove all you can eat sushi restaurants but I always eat way too much there! So worth it though 🙂

  23. What do a walrus and Tupperware have in common?

They both like a tight seal.

    You asked….. 😉

  24. I want to swim in that seaweed salad.

  25. elise says:

O.M.G. Sushi + all you can eat?! YES!! I am on a serious sushi kick right now. Yum!
