Friday Five

Hey guys!

I’m reeeeeeeeeally hoping everything works and this posts actually publishes. I’ve been having some A LOT OF issues with my server lately so…fingers crossed! With no time for an intro, I think you’ve seen enough of these posts floating around blogworld to know what’s coming…

Coconut Coffee

1. Liquid Pie

Have you SEEN this coffee in stores?! If so, do yourself a big HUGE favor and pick up a bag! Not only does it ACTUALLY taste like coconut, but it also makes for the perfect addition to German chocolate SEX cake! πŸ˜‰

Wild Squirrel Nut Butter

2. Wild for Nut Butter

A few months ago, the lovely ladies over at Wild Squirrel sent me a box of their nut butter goodness. And well, I guess you can say I’ve MORE than enjoyed them…

Wild Squirrel CollageThe vanilla espresso is my FAVORITE (totally still hoarding this jar), but I did my best to give the other flavors an ample opportunity to please my palate. Whether it’s on top of a bowl of cereal, Arctic Zero, toast, crackers, cookies, Quest bars, or your frickin FACE, it is absolutely amazing!!

Berry Bruschetta 1

3. Beating the Heat

While I seem to be in another one of my cooking ruts (I blame the summer heat), there has been NO shortage of yummy eats crossing my path…I’ve of course been tossing up Β PLENTY of Β salacious salads, but I’ve also been enjoying freshly made salsa and this amazing berry bruschetta I came up with the other day!

Recipe coming soon!

BBQ Salad

4. Leftovers Schmeftovers

It really kills me how people say they hate leftovers…all week, I’ve been adding a bit of the man-friend’s perfectly spiced pull pork from our BBQ last weekend to my salads and then drizzling the whole thing in thinned out BBQ sauce…YUM!

Elvis Man-Friend & Me

5. Man-friend Makeover

Looks like my little lizard man has changed his look a bit…or at least for the weekend. That’s right, the next few days will be spent in Elvis-land (aka the man-friend’s
old stomping ground) and we plan on hanging with friends, family, and of course,
getting our FILL of some good ol’ Memphis BBQ!

What are YOU up to this weekend?

What summer eats and treats have you been enjoying lately?

  1. That vanilla espresso almond butter sounds SO good!! I MUST find that!

  2. Oh sweetie! I loved this post! You sound so frickin happy so that makes ME happy πŸ˜€

I heard about that but butter on dragons den! So awesome! The flavours sound unreal. So does that coffee though! I’m not really a coffee drinker, but I’ve been having some really delicious teas lately and my current favourite happens to be coconut flavored too! It’s so amazing!

Have a great weekend love bug. Oh. I am totally with you on the leftovers too. How can you not like/love them!? I love them

This weekend I’ll be busy with GPP but excited to hear from you and how your weekend is! Sounds like it will be a blast πŸ˜€

  3. I’ve been wanting to try Wild Squirrel since I saw it on Kath Eats. With another thumbs up from you I know it’s gotta be good! Now to find it in Canada…

  4. I’ve heard so many things about the Elvis festival, I think it would be pretty fun! Make sure you get lots of pictures with impersonators πŸ˜‰
And that nut butter sounds amazing. I spy chocolate coconut, which I basically need.

  5. Definitely going to be on the lookout for that coffee, but can you just SEND me the cake? πŸ™‚

Leftovers are the greatest. I’m pretty sure volume cooking is the way to go…loving what’s left is just a sign of our culinary creativity I believe: How can we make this even BETTER the next time around?

  6. Ok first thing…Those nut butters. I have nothing to say other than, Give me some Vanilla Espresso! πŸ™‚
And all your food pictures are seriously drool worthy! Love it~

  7. Wait… Is that your manfriend in that last pic? What a looker ;). You guys make a great couple.

Oh and that freaking healthy Oreo with Wild Squirrel Butter? Totally giving me Parent Trap/Lindsay Lohan flashbacks. You know, the scene where they eat Oreos w/ PB? Yeahhhh…

  8. Everything in this post looks absolutely delicious! I want to give that nutbutter a try ASAP!

  9. I swear, that vanilla espresso nut butter is THE BEST!!! I really need that coffee, too. Omg. Have fun in Memphis!!!

  10. OMG Heather!!!! I just realized (WAY LATE to the party) that you are back from your blog break!!! How are you my blog friend? So happy to see your posts – they always make me smile. Will scroll back and catch up, but in the meantime, YAY!!!!!

  11. Haha! The Man Makeover is hilarious!
I’ve been wanting to try the Wild Squirrel nut butters. Especially the espresso one! Yum!
Summer treats I’ve been enjoying have been lots of homemade banana froyo! Had a bowl of chocolate cherry last night and it was delicious!

  12. Oh these berry bruschettas look so cute!! Can not wait for the recipe. And I love the pic of you and Elvis-man-friend. Such a perfect match!! πŸ™‚
I am at the wedding of Sandros’ brother this weekend – means, standing around in High Heels by 38Β°C and stuffing my face with appetizers and champagne. I guess I will have to jump into the lake sooner or later and give a damn about my hairstyle and make up. πŸ™‚

  13. That oreo dipped in nut butter definitely caught my eye. After seeing the Squirrel nut butters on Kath Eats they just seem so delicious. “Drippy” I think is the word that she uses? πŸ™‚

That cinnamon raisin pb and chocolate sunbutter both sound so good. And probably easy to replicate at home too! However, homemade nut butter never tastes the same as those from the store. Not worse or better, just different.

  14. Robyn :) says:

Yay for summer eats and nut butters!! and I am so jealous you get to go to Memphis. I really want to visit Graceland.

Tonight is Foot Locker night at the local baseball game. My husband works for the local distribution center so we get tickets a meal and a drink and I think there are going to be raffle prizes. Tomorrow I am scrapbooking all day with friends πŸ™‚

I have enjoyed yummy vegan food from CafΓ© Gratitude this summer πŸ˜‰

  15. Haha, that’s cute! I first saw this on instagram today and thought “omg she has an Elvis cardboard cut out!”. πŸ˜‰ Have a blast this weekend!

I really wanna try that vanilla espresso, that sounds ah-frickin-mazing!

  16. ahhh the coffee flavours you guys have are epic! I bought all these flavour k cups from America to use here (along with a Keurig) and only when I arrived and plugged it in did I realise that we are on different electrical circuits… fail.

Leftover pulled meat is amazing. I swear the longer it sits, the better it is!

  17. I wish they had that nut butter here. Single serve nut butter is genius!!

I don’t drink coffee but if I did I would consider getting some of that liquid pie. Mmmm pie!

  18. I picked up a couple of sachets of that Wild Squirrel nut butter when I was in the U.S. earlier this year; its so good yum! I’ve only tried the cinnamon raisin one so far but i’ve got some chocolate almond butter too..can’t wait to try it!
That coconut cream pie coffee sounds amazing too.

  19. Oh girl, you kill me with that man friend makeover – too, too funny!

That wild squirrel PB sounds ah-maze-ing! They totally need to get themselves to the “land down under” ;P or I need jesse’s best man to bring me some!! (He’s already bringing me Earth Balance Coconut PB because I’m obsessed!)

Enjoy your weekend, lovely! I’m so jealous of your summer loving whilst I’m in cold old Sydney! This weekend we’re keeping it quiet and working on our chair restoration/DIY project and cleaning up an old desk we bought on eBay ready to sand and paint (or sell because I think it’s too much work haha)

  20. I’ve heard so many good things about that nut butter – and those flavours sound so good! It makes me want to change my career path and go back into science so that I can spend my life coming up with a cure for nut allergies. πŸ˜›

Have an awesome time in Memphis! My weekend isn’t too exciting – just working, working, and more working. So have fun for me. πŸ˜‰

  21. 1. That coffee MUST be found…by me…for my mug
    2. I want ALL the nut butter!!!!
    3. This weekend…I’ll be seeing you!!! And making ice cream… πŸ™‚

  22. Searching for the coffee & PB!!! πŸ™‚ Love the manfriend!

  23. I really need to try the Wild Friends/Squirrel nut butter, I just have to work through my other jars before I let myself buy some haha.

  24. Liquid pie sounds delicious! I have been dying to try that pb!! Must get my hands on some!
PS… I think the man friend is more handsome this way! The lizard just didn’t do him justice. πŸ˜‰

  25. Your berry bruschetta looks amazing! I just made a savory bruschetta with cherry tomatoes and fresh basil over the weekend!

Also, those nut butters look delicious! I have seen those, but haven’t tried them yet. I might have to pick up a jar next time!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

      Aww, thank you Melissa!

Definitely try the Wild Squirrel if you get a chance! This one is my favorite, but their chocolate coconut peanut butter is also amazing…and it’s got the best drizzly consistency!

  26. Kat says:

Good LAWD I need that coffee NOWWWW! Gosh I am a coconut cream pie freak. There’s a place near me that sells mini coconut cream pies, so I can literally eat an entire one by MYSELF. Does it get any better than that? I don’t think so!
And I’ve never seen those nut butters before but now I’ve got to find them! They sound out of this freaking world!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Can you believe I’ve never actually HAD coconut cream pie?! Haha! I’m much more of a cake person, but since I just discovered my LOVE of coconut a few years ago, I think I “owe it to myself” to try it at least once! Now I just need to find a place that sells little mini ones…or maybe I just need to come visit you! πŸ˜‰

  27. I’ve never had Wild Squirrel Nut Butter but now I’m inspire to try it! I usually go for Justin’s Nut Butters πŸ˜‰

    • kissmybroccoli says:

They’re really fantastic nut butters! This one is definitely my favorite, but they have a chocolate coconut peanut butter that is amazing…and SO drizzly!! πŸ˜€

  28. Did you have fun in Memphis? That’s where I live! I love “BBQ dressing” !

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thanks, Lauren! I had a pretty good time, but I’m convinced that I need to go back to see more…with all the family and friends to meet up with, we seemed to be running all weekend long! I’ll be posting a recap tomorrow…but I’m saving all the eats for Wednesday…because I’m a tease! πŸ˜‰

What are some of your favorite restaurants in Memphis? I’ll have to start making a list for when we make our next trip! πŸ™‚
