Thinking Out Loud: Squirrel Moments

Hello friends!

So I actually planned to have a totally different kind of post today. One of a serious nature. One that I was fired up about. One that…required much more effort to type up than I have at the moment. After finishing up a 53-hour work week on sooooo not enough sleep, the writing motivation that was with me a couple of days ago has since flown out the window. Hopefully, I’ll have some time to get my thoughts together next week.

Until then, let’s just think some thoughts…OUT LOUD!

You know that scene in Disney’s Up where you first meet Dug the dog and realize he has quite a hilarious case of ADD? Well, I too am afflicted and frequently go about my day talking like a normal human being until all of a sudden it’s like…

Mini Apple

Omg, a baby apple!!!

I spotted this little cutie (along with many of his friends) at the farmer’s market last weekend and just had to buy some…not because I particularly like this variety of apple, not because they were only 25 cents a piece…oh no, I bought them because duh, they’re ADORRRRRABLE!

While prowling the aisles (anyone else feel like they’re on the hunt in a liquor store? Just me? Weird.) for margaritas with some friends the other day, I was trying to decide if we should go with regular or pineapple when…

Pickle Vodka

Look guys…PICKLES!!

At first, I couldn’t think of a single reason why any sane person would want to drink pickle-flavored spirits (and I do love me some pickles), but then I figured there was a reason it was sitting next to the bloody Mary mix. Ugh, how do people even drink those things? For the record, we went with pineapple…and should’ve gone with regular.

When I parked my car at the store yesterday, I got out and thought, “Oh wow, what a nice night. The weather is just….

Sunset

“Holy sky on fire where the hell’s my phone?!”

During my walk/jog/omg-why-do-I-feel-like-I’m-dying run with a friend the other day, we were deep in conversation…about current events and the upcoming election and…oh who the hell am I kidding? We were probably talking about cheeseburgers because you know, when you smell the fat burning you automatically…

Rose

Ohhhhh, pretty!

For the record, I only pointed it out (and totally interrupted my friend) at the time…I waited until we were walking back and my lungs had somewhat recovered before snapping a pic. 😉

While bingeing on my latest Netflix obsession the other day, I seriously had to hit pause and rush over to Google to figure out what song was playing. It sounded so…familiar. After my discovery I had to rewind the show about 5 minutes because I realized I hadn’t heard anything else while I was trying to place the song…

Then I gave myself a big pat on the back for recognizing the TRIO of voices from Fujiya and Miyagi in this catchy beat I found on Spotify months ago. 😉

Speaking of Breaking Bad…I think I have about 285 more episodes to watch while I think of nothing in or relating to a hospital. Though it does give me nightmarish flashbacks to my college years when I swore I would die before I ever made it through General Chemistry. I hope you guys have a fabulous weekend. In the meantime, why don’tcha hop on over to Spoons and see what there is to see?

  1. You’re so vibrant, Heather!

Something that caught my eye this weekend was the beautiful set design we have for our drama production. It’s literally a forest and it’s so beautiful!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh that sounds neat! I used to love watching the sets come together when I was in drama club in high school. What production are you guys doing?

  2. Sooooo… how about them apples, eh? 😉 Obviously we suffer from the same humorous form of ADD. And pickle vodka? Yeaaaah I dunno. I love me some pickles, but not really with vodka. I imagine it would be like drinking pickle brine… which I know some people are into, but yeah… not for me 😯

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Love it! It’s pretty much a given that if they make a “mini” version of any fruit or vegetable, I’m going to HAVE to buy it. Which reminds me that I forgot to get one of those cute little baby watermelons this summer…damn! haha! And oh I know! My dad loves to drink the juice out of an empty jar of pickles. Always killed me to watch him do it!

  3. Apparently pickles really take away the taste of booze, there is a bar here that does “picklebacks” which is a shot of whiskey chased by a shot of pickle juice.

    • Picklebacks are seriously delicious, ladies. Don’t knock it til ya try it! 🙂

      • kissmybroccoli says:

Picklebacks, huh? I just had to Google it. Innnnnnnteresting! But hey, I’m never one to knock…I have some CRAZY combos that I stand behind! BBQ PB&J anyone? Lol

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Too funny! Until now, I’d never heard of a pickleback but you’re the second person to mention it! I’m never one to knock it till I’ve tried it, so yeah, I might could be convinced to do one of those. Eh, I’ll try anything ONCE! 😉

  4. Sarah Pie says:

Eww I’m sorry but the thought of drinking pickle flavored anything is just….. no. I do love your adorable baby apples thought!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! You’d have to be a die-hard (or…dare I go as far as to say DILL-HARD) to pay money for that! Oh sometimes I crack myself up! Lol

  5. Ewww I’ve seen that pickle flavored vodka but I’ve never tried it. I can’t imagine it would be good haha. And those baby apples! ADORABLE!

  6. Remember when we found the cute little apples together at WF?! Can you believe that was almost a whole YEAR ago?! I’m so sad!! Its almost my anniversary! You’d swear my marriage was ending at the end of the year or something, but I just don’t want the first year to end!! Boooo (I’m a total baby)

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awwwwr! The memories!! It is SO crazy how fast this year is going by…part of me feels like Blend was just yesterday while the other part feels like it was ages ago! And just thinking about all the fun we had makes me miss you that much more! Waaaah!

  7. Now there’s my squirrely little broccoli back in action. Glad to see you, and I should mention I picked up four baby apples at the market last week for just a quarter an apple. I put them in some apple cheddar multigrain muffins because I rock.

Give me enough drinks and I’d probably try the pickle one.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

And I ate mine straight up because I’m lazy and boring. Ha! Hmm, I’ll keep your openmindness in mind for when I put together my themed pickle party…I’m thinking there should also be costumes involved! 😉

  8. I have a weird obsession with flavoured vodka (whipped cream, cake batter, fruit loops…) but I’d struggle a bit with pickle-flavoured. But to be fair, I hate Caesars so I’d never really have a use for it…it probably wouldn’t mix with diet coke very well.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I’m right there with ya girlie! Every time I go to the liquor store, I end up standing in awe of the flavored vodkas and rums for about 15 minutes at least! And yeah, pickle-flavored coke does sound pretty barf-tastic!

  9. Ewww vodka is bad enough as it is, but pickle vodka?? Gross!

  10. Pickled Vodka? I don’t know. Maybe when I had enough pure vodka, I would drink it, since I wouldn’t recognize it anymore 🙂

Oh! I just saw that CleanEats made the same comment. So I suggest Meghan and me get drunk together and then drink pickled vodka.

  11. Look at you whipping out posts back and forth like it’s going out of style.

    I like it.

Pickle vodka? I’m not sure I could be sold on that….yet. Then again, if it’s drink number 3 then I’m up for anything.

Mini things are pretty eye catching unless your hungry. Then it’s the polar opposite.
