Leapin’ Liebster!

Lookie lookie, I got an award! ๐Ÿ˜€

Liebster Award

But don’t let it fool ya…I’m a bad blogger.

You see, over the past few months, this fun little prize has been making its way around blogworld and I have been nominated not one, not two…but NINE TIMES!

See? Told ya…bad blogger!

The rules:
Write 11 random facts about yourself
Answer 11 questions given by the person who nominated you
Ask 11 questions for your nominees
Nominate 11 people for the award and mention them in your post

As much as I’d love to follow all the rules, that would just be too mammoth of a post to bore you guys with. So I figured I’d just be a little rebel and make my own rules it up as I went along…

So since my tree is STILLย up (#noshame), how about I start with the nominations that were given around Christmas? And in honor of my lucky number, I’ll answer 7 of each 11 questions:

First up, from Renee at Fit for Motherhood:

1. What is your favorite breakfast?

Pancake CollageOk, that one’s easy…PANCAKES!

2. Do you prefer to workout at home or at the gym?
I used to go on and on about how you don’t need a gym membership to get a
good workout at home, but I have to confess that since I joined the Y, I don’t really have as much motivation to do anything at home…unless I’m cleaning…that counts right? ๐Ÿ˜‰

3. What would your last meal be?
Ohhh, that’s a toughie…how many courses are we talking here? Because if it’s my LAST meal, then I better damn sure get more than one!

Let’s see…I think I’d like to start out with some Ethiopian finger foodsย and a couple of Scotch eggs…for my main course, I’d like a slice of pizza the size of my face COVERED with cheese and all my favorite toppings…and as far as dessert, there will be NO holding me back at the self-serve fro-yo shop…bring on the SPRINKLES!

4. What is your favorite Christmas/holiday tradition?
My family doesn’t really have many holiday traditions but we ALWAYS get to open one gift on Christmas Eve and we ALWAYS know what it will be…

Christmas PJ'sChristmas pajamas!

5. Do you own any pets?

Tiger

Yep yep! My little love muffin (Tiger) has been with me for over SEVEN years now!

6. If you could be anything in the world what would it be?
A superhero…who could fly…and save people with healing pancakes! Hey, you DID said ANYTHING! ๐Ÿ˜‰

7. What made you decide to start blogging?
I started blogging only a few months after I discovered food blogs. I was seeing all these girls posting pictures of creative food combinations and recipes and all of a sudden I had so much motivation to just jump in the kitchen and do the same! Once I realized that I actually COULD cook (I had only really dabbled before and NEVER strayed from a recipe), I had so many ideas that I couldn’t wait to share!

Next up, from Nikki at The Road to Less Cake:

1. What is your favourite Christmas movie?

Christmas Story [Extended] - Front (Large)

A Christmas Story…always has been…always will be!

2. What did you want to be when you “grew up”?
Well, for the longest time I wanted to be a teacher…then I realized that I hated kids (not all kids, just other people’s ;)) so I changed my mind and decided I was going to be a veterinarian…until I got a chance to job shadow at a vet clinic in high school and almost passed out during a cat spay! Oops?

3. What is your favourite book?
Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers

4. Would you rather go to the movies or sit in with a DVD?
I’m definitely a DVD kind of girl…I like to curl up on the couch with my blanket…movie theaters are just TOO cold!

5. What is your favourite work out/form of exercise?

Weight Lifting

Pumping IRRRRRRRRON!

6. What is your job/what are you studying?
I work nights as a CAT scan technologist at the hospital here in town…

cat-scan-ur-doin-it-wrongYou know, I get paid to scan cats all day! ๐Ÿ˜‰

7. What is your favourite fruit and favourite vegetable?

Persimmon & Kabocha

And finally, from Kyra at Scribbles and Sprinkles:

1. What is your most hated food ever?
Greasy fast food…and I have (tummy) proof that it hates me too!

2. Favourite music genre?
Music Collage
I really like listening to a wide variety of music, but I guess most of my iTunes library is filled with alternative and punk.

3. Are you a morning or a night person?
Night…kind of a requirement when you lead a zombie life!

4. If you were to give a pep talk to your 13-year-old self, what would you say?
It gets better…it gets SOOOOO much better! I promise you will EVENTUALLY get boobs… you will not ALWAYS be a foot taller than all the boys…and dance to the MACARENA all you want…because it will never be socially acceptable (unless your drunk) later!

5. How many languages do you speak?
1.257658768 (muy poquitoย Espanol) ๐Ÿ˜‰

6. What makes Christmasย Christmas?

Christmas Memories 2012Being with family…sharing memories…and bonding in our collective craziness.

7. What do you see yourself doing in five years?
Well, I hope that maybe can have a little not-of-the-furball-kind family started…and HOPEFULLY I will have discovered a way to quit my job and do nothing but cook and blog all day long! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Whew, that was LONG but FUN!

Stay tuned for two more installments in the (hopefully) near future!

What would YOU tell your 13 year old self?

What would YOUR last meal be?

Hooray!! I got one of these too! And in the version that was sent to me it said I had nominate people who had less than 200 followers and most all the blogs I follow have way more than that (like you for instance, you rock star!). HOWEVER, your blog makes me happy so I always visit it anyway. It was fun to read some random facts about you too! ๐Ÿ™‚ Healing pancakes. sign me up kthx.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Wow, that would be a toughie…I hate rules…they’re really just “guidelines” ya know! ๐Ÿ˜‰ And oh my gosh girl, you are seriously making me blush over here! Come see me…I will make you MOUNTAINS of pancakes! ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. You should have blown everyone mind and said cereal is your favorite breakfast. LOL!

I would slap my 13 year old self. You couldn’t tell that girl anything. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! That would have been awesome! It WAS my favorite food in college…I practically subsisted off Lucky Charms and pizza rolls! Oh, and beer…but don’t tell my mom! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. Kat says:

I would tell my 13-year-old self that you will never get boobs, but it is totally okay, in fact MUCH better for running….start running NOW (really, why did I wait with that until I was 19?)…lay off the chocolate and don’t start this addiction that your 29-year-old self will struggle with…listen to your grandma, and stand straight up, poor posture sucks and it will cause issues…don’t whine that you don’t have a boyfriend, enjoy being single and still a kid…
My last meal…that’s hard, it would be probably a huge salad with EVERY vegetable possible and a GIGANTIC chocolate gelato…possibly crepes too…Italian pizza?!?! uh, the last bite would be the chocolate gelato.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Bravo! What a speech! And I hear ya on the posture! Wish I could go back and slap myself every time I rolled my eyes after my mom got onto me for slouching! I really need to get back into yoga…I swear it helps keep me more in tune with how I carry my body throughout the day!

I love that you include salad in your last meal…and gelato…perfect balance even on death’s door! Lol ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. Lucie says:

I love these surveys!! And you totally rock as an iron pumper.
I would tell my 13-year old that she doesn’t have to lie to me because I anyway know that she smokes and drinks beer and goes to parties longer than I allowed telling me she’d sleep over at her friends place for a DVD night (I have some good old memories on that :-)) and that she should be a happy wild crazy chick as long as possible because a job and the society will eventually catch up on her. Last meal? The one you cook for me when I hired you as my personal cook ๐Ÿ™‚

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Amen! Oh, just to be able to go back and have that carefree attitude again…before the bills, the responsibilities, the stress! What were we thinking when we couldn’t wait to grow up?!

And I would be MORE than honored to cook your last meal! Just wait…I have a surprise for you on Sunday! ๐Ÿ˜€

  5. Oh good, I’m not the only one who’s not a kid fan. I also seriously would’ve thought you went to some special pancake making culinary institute. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. YESS Love that you included Pheonix, I love them! I don’t know what my last meal would be but it would most definitely be a multiple course meal as well – gotta enjoy the last. I would probably have a death by chocolate cheesecake somewhere in there, it’s so sinful and decadent. What else? Probably my mom’s cooking to tell you the truth… maybe some sushi… I would just binge on all of my favorites haha.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Heck yeah, the entire album ROCKS! Can’t believe I just discovered them last summer! Death by cheesecake…mmmmm, whatta way to go!

  7. LOVED this!! OMG – that cat scan – too funny!!!!!

  8. Haha I’ve been nominated for this award a bunch of times too and I still haven’t done it. Oops! ๐Ÿ˜›

I would tell my 13 year old self to chill out and stop wishing you were a “cool kid” because nerds are so much more awesome. ๐Ÿ˜‰

And my last meal… I once spent a full hour thinking about this and writing out lists and evaluating my options – I kid you not! I still haven’t figured it out! But if we’re allowed multiple courses as per your rules, I’d have a salmon sushi roll, a wood-fired oven pizza topped with figs, goat cheese, arugula, prosciutto and balsamic caramelized onions, a mushroom risotto with parmesan and gruyere, venison cooked by the chef at Blacktree, a triple chocolate cheesecake, some pumpkin pie, and a date square. LOL!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Omg, you better call me on your deathbed girl because I am SO helping you with that last meal! You had me with the pizza, but then mushroom risotto AND pumpkin pie?! Oh wow, I would die happy for sure! ๐Ÿ˜€

Nerds ARE awesome…and real…and all the cool kids are fake…and fat now! Lol

  9. Hahaha! This doesn’t make you a bad blogger because when I was nominated, I too made up my own rules. It was easier that way. ๐Ÿ˜‰

And as for my last meal? There better be a GIANT tub of peanut and almond butter!

  10. I have to confess, my last meal would probably be 9 courses of dessert! Oh, and I think the fact that you were nominated 9 times probably makes you a very GOOD blogger. Just sayin’…

  11. Kyra says:

Yay! So happy you answered some of my questions! As for my 13 year old self, I CRINGE everytime i think about the things I used to do. Sigh. I’d probably just shake my head in embarrassment ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Last meal would be a toasted Nutella sandwich with gluten-ised bread! Cause hey, last meal! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  12. I’d tell myself that the the jerks in her class are losers and bully her because they are weak themselves. that she will survive it but has to move on from it. that she is strong and beautiful. to start running and dancing and yoga, not get too crazy in college, and oh, finish that damn novel she’s been writing on forever already!

love the cat scan photo ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. I’m sorry but I have to say. It’s time for the tree to come down. ๐Ÿ™‚
Alright now that we’re past that, I wouldn’t tell my 13 year old self anything because I wouldn’t have listened (I was a hell raiser) and its all part of my charm today, at least I think so. I don’t think I could pick a last meal either because it would change with the day, my food, what I was feeling. Like right now, I just want a rich juicy peach, the kind that drips down your hands and face when you eat it.
I loved reading all your responses though; you had me cracking up.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

I know…honestly, I had no intention of keeping it up this long, but I can totally blame the man-friend for this one since he’s been dragging me off to lakeside cabins and vintage hotels in the middle of Atlanta! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Dude, now I want a peach!

  14. Thanks for the reminder that I was nominated for this award forever and a day ago, too. [Just once, though…NINE TIMES?!?! Girl, you are way too cool for me.]

    PERSIMMONS!!!!!!!!!

  15. Yay! Glad to see that I’m not the only one who is striving to be a stay at home blogger!
