Freeze Pleeze: Taking Ice Cream to a Whole New Level!

I scream, you scream, we ALL scream for ice cream!

It’s not every day that I get to indulge in frozen desserts. Actually, with my lactose-challenged tummy, I rarely even think about going out. After years of attempting to convince myself that lactase pills would save me from ending up in the fetal position, I finally accepted the fact that if I wanted ice cream (not sorbet, because, let’s face it, the two will NEVER compare!), I’d just have to settle for a pint of the dairy-free stuff at home.

Freeze Pleeze Almond Milk Ice Cream

That was until this bowl of frozen ALMOND MILK perfection appeared before me a mere FIVE MINUTES after being poured from a carton.

Two weeks ago, my little town of Clarksville welcomed a new business called Freeze Pleeze. An ice cream parlor promising things like all-natural ingredients and dairy-free alternatives with a variety of flavors all made to order and FLASH FROZEN before your eyes! After a friend of mine raved about their rose-flavored ice cream (?!), I knew I just had to check it out. So after a hot day at the park last week, I packed along a few friends and strolled over to the 50’s-style parlor ready to be awed and amazed.

Freeze Pleeze

With so many flavors and different treats to choose from, I’ll admit, it took me a minute (or ten) to narrow it down. After calling dibs on a sample of my friend’s cup of rose, I finally decided on the almond milk peanut butter with crushed Oreos!

Then I stood gaping at the counter while all my dreams of frozen confection came true…

Freeze and stir, freeze and stir, and BOOM! Ice cream in my face!

It really was amazing to watch the whole process. I couldn’t believe it only took a few minutes to come together. While they offer the usual suspects as far as toppings go, none of their ice creams have any added sugars or binders. And when it comes to the price, it’s a steal! My medium cup cost less than $5.00 and I was so full when we left! Plus…

FREE SPRINKLES!

The owners were incredibly welcoming. Since they are just starting out, they asked our opinions (my other two friends ordered peanut butter banana and CHOCOLATE peanut butter banana…obviously my friends have exquisite taste) and told us to feel free to voice any concerns if we had them so they could better refine their recipes. But honestly, after a round of musical cups to sample each flavor, none of us could find a thing to complain about!

And now, my mission is to try every flavor! I’m having visions of chocolate coconut milk ice cream mixed with slivered almonds in my near future. Hey, you guys KNOW my infatuation with that combo! Oh man, it’s gonna be a tough summer! 😉

Have you ever been to an ice cream place like this?

What’s your favorite topping/add-in?

Thinking Out Loud: I’m So Hungry!

Hey hey HEY!

So guess what! I love you! I’m so glad you guys liked Tuesday’s post and just want you to know that each and every comment either had me giggling nonstop or shaking my head like a frickin bobble head.  Sounds like we’ve all learned a few good lessons lately!

With all the craziness of life going on right now, I’m SUPER excited to actually have the energy (and pictures) for a post today. Of course, with excitement also comes a rush of scatterbrained thinking which is perfect for a good edition of Thinking Out Loud!

Annnnnnnd go!

PB Oreo S'mores

Look guys, FOOD!!

I so wish I could take credit for the sheer genius that is this peanut butter Oreo mess of s’more confection, but alas I found it in a copy of Country Woman that I stole borrowed from the imaging department’s waiting room. I know I will more than likely be in a coma afterward AND have to find a way to successfully lick my forearms, but omg, so worth it! And if I have any luck shopping for a deck-sized fire pit this weekend, I will most definitely be taking on the task! 😉

Sandwich

The STACKS are BACK!

This beauty on the other hand, I CAN take credit for! The reason for Tuesday’s lesson in oral torture (oh wow, that sounded weirder than it did in my head), but man was this baby delicious! So I found this “everything” hummus at Food Lion the other day and it is in fact everything I thought it would be. Toasted multigrain ciabatta roll with hummus, kale, tomato, cucumber, red onion, toasted onion mustard (TJ Maxx find), and MORE hummus because, well, in the words of my friend, I had to make up for the lack of dead animals! And because shit guys, it’s EVERYTHING hummus!

Cottage Cheese, Cantaloupe, Perfect Bar

Cookies for BREAKFAST!

For all my Blend-attend-ees out there, I hope to GOD you went home with at least one Perfect Foods bar! I almost didn’t because they are super high in calories…I know, don’t look at me like that. I’m not counting or anything, I just think that 300 calories for a snack is a little much, mmmkay? 😛 Anyhoodles, I decided to crumble half of an almond butter bar on top of a bowl of cantaloupe and cottage cheese the other day annnnnnd I couldn’t wait to repeat it! So.freaking.GOOD!

How the hell do I already have 400 words in this post?

Book & Coffee

Fuck you, Nora Roberts!

So, I started on the third book in the Bride Quartet the other night and holy crap! I’m only on chapter six and instead of getting toodly in my bits like I usually do with her expert use of steamy adjectives, every few pages, I’m Googling food! So far, I want to make this and this and someone needs to help me find out where to buy ouzo!

And now, because I figured I could get something else out of Google…

The food blogger anthem!

Thinking-Out-Loud

As always, big thanks to Amanda for hosting our weekly tell all…think all? Eh, whatevs…I’m out in just over 500 words! BAM!

What are your plans for this weekend?
I’ll be heading over to my parents to celebrate Broccoli Mama’s BIRTHDAY! Hamburgers, my famous por-tay-ter salad are on the list with talk of some ooey gooey [boxed because they’re the best] brownies! 😉

The Truth Hurts

Some things in life you just know.

Others, you have to learn. Sometimes it’s an easy lesson, sometimes it’s a hard one and sometimes, it hurts…in good or bad ways, but those are the lessons that usually stick…the ones that make you feel. I’ve learned a few things recently that I thought I’d share with the class…

Pringles

Once you pop, you really can’t.fucking.stop! 😯

No matter how old you are, if you go more than a week without seeing/talking to your mama, you get a little sad…ok, really sad.

Even if you only have to work ONE day in a week, it will feel like it takes five days to get through.

Even if your weekend is five days long, it will be over in what feels like ONE day.

You will never, EVER leave Target with only the items on your list.

It is possible to love something (or someone) so much it physically hurts.

The more sugar you eat, the more you crave, the more you feel like a crusty pile of poop.

Giveaways are cool, but posts that are reviewed prior to publishing and revised to the point of no longer being yours are not.

Coffee straight out of the coffee pot is really fucking hot.

There is a 38 second time delay after being woken up by a phone call in the middle of sleeping where you must make the shift from velociraptor to human.

Muffins made without butter or oil will most likely taste like cardboard.

If you go to the gym after laying out for three weeks and decide to just bust out fifty push ups…even if they ARE girly ones without stretching afterwards, you will regret it.

Leather car seats will peel at least five layers of skin off the back of your thighs at least fifty times during the summer.

Toasted sandwiches, while extremely tasty, are guaranteed to fuck up the roof of your mouth if inhaled within five minutes.

Sunset

When all you have in your photo library is a can of Pringles and fourteen sunsets, you are forced to resort to Google for random memes and GIF’s to make your posts look more interesting.

If you have ADD like me, it will take you 78.9999% longer to type that post.

And if you sit at a computer for THREE hours straight, your ass will go numb.

What lesson have you learned lately?
