A Wild and Wonderfully Walliterative Weekend!

Well hello there, my little sugar dumplin’s!

I just read through all the comments on Monday’s post and I swear nearly HALF of you professed undying love for wedding cake! Now don’t get me wrong, I can appreciate a dessert here and there, but I guess my tastes are just highly refined (read: I have absolutely no sweet tooth), well, unless it had been a big fat Greek wedding COOKIE, then all bets would have been O-F-F! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyhoodle, enough about cookies, how about I show you guys a bit more of the fantastic food I found myself faced with this feekend?

Weekend Eats

I could never miss out on an opportunity for appropriate alliteration OR the chance to play with PicMonkey! ๐Ÿ˜‰

And well heck, while we’re at it…

WIAW TealI might as well throw my wegular Wednesday wingding(?!)!

Be sure to scooch on over to Peas & Crayons to see what fabulous foodie funderment is unfolding in other parts of blogworld! ๐Ÿ˜‰

The weekend got off to a wild start with some wickedly deliciousย WAFFLES!

Waffles with PB & Banana

Freshly made toasted from a frozen box by the man-friend and then slathered in crunchy peanut butter, 1/2 banana, and some waaaay to sweet maple syrup!

After our meal, we made our way to the market of the farmer variety…

Jam Taste Testing

And Heather got friendly with some fellow foodies and scored some free finger foods!

FYI, Nashville Jam Co. has some freakishly fantastic foodiments!

After about half a sleeve of Ritz crackers topped with marscapone cheese and a variety of jams and sauces, I left with a strawberry jalapeno jam and a jalapeno honey mustard…both are highly addicted with heat this spice wimp can handle! ๐Ÿ˜‰

On the way out, overloaded with our obligatory fresh finds, the man-friend had a hunger for something hot and not too heavy…

Shrimp Po' Boy

A crusty Cajun bread filled with crispy crustacean cousins!

aka…a Shrimp Po’ Boy from Nooley’sย ๐Ÿ˜‰

I snuck a sample, but not to keep any secrets, my stomach was still pretty full of sweet delicious jam!

Quest Cookie Bar

But there might have been some sensible snacking on a softย and succulent
Quest bar before…

Theย night of nuptial noshing.ย ๐Ÿ˜‰

The morning after our decadent dinner, I awokeย salivating for something simple…

Toast Egg & BananaToast smeared my new strawberry spread, topped with a perfectly fried poultry progeny and a side of cinnamon sprinkled subtropical fruit!

Not many hours later, we made the most of the marvelous 70-degree weather and went for some motorcycling and Mexican munchingย at Las Palmas

Motorcycling & Mexican

Veggie fajitas for me and fish tacos for the friend who is my man! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Las Palmas Veggie Fajita Chip

A mouth-waterin’ mountain of a morsel!

We ended the weekend wight with some friends and foods from a faraway land…

Tzatziki's Hummus Plate

Or maybe it was just a Greek jointย called Tzatziki’swork with me weople! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Holy delicious hummus and really hard pita crisps that were just ho-kay.

Tzatziki's Greek Salad with Lamb

Followed by a freshย salad filled withย freakย GREEK flavorsย and garnished with grilled game (aka, lamb).

And perhaps there was some partaking in some fruity fro-yo fun

Fro-yoLuscious lemon topped with Capt’n Crunch (promise it’s in there), Fruity Febbles, and cha-cha-cha- cherries!

And thus ends my theatrical abuse of thesaurus.com!

What’s the BEST thing you ate this weekend?

Did anyone else know that “wingding” was something other than a font in
Microsoft word??

Oh and since I’m pretty sure at least five of you will ask, my nail color is
“Mojito Madness” by Essie ๐Ÿ˜‰

Holy Yumm, all that good food! I love that you went on a motorcycle tour, so much fun!! And loooove the simple breakfast toast with strawberry jam and egg, totally so my taste.
No sweet tooth?? Ahahahaa. And what about the Ovomaltine nd all that FroYo topping? ๐Ÿ™‚ I know, I know, not even a non-sweet-tooth-person can turn down some Swiss-Heaven on a jar or FroYo!!
Best thing on the weekend? I can’t even remember….oh YES, it definitely was the Low Carb Savory Chicken Pizza from Kierston, so good!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Well, I don’t have a NORMAL sweet tooth…maybe I should put it that way! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Not sure what it is, but I can look at cake and candy bars all day long and it never really phases me…but I’m all about some childhood nostalgia with my favorite kiddie cereals…and don’t even get me NEAR a plate of soft and chewy cookies! Mmmmm!

And if you can believe it, I think I’m done with the Ovomaltine for a little while. I had a bite the other day and it tasted SO SWEET to me! Omg, I swear I’m crazy! Lol

  2. Jessie says:

Good gracious, talk about one heck of a weekend (that I might add I”m jealous of) of food! I want to fly to you RIGHT NOW so we can go get ourselves some Mexican (with margaritas on the side of course), and some froyo!!! Is that cool with you??? Yeah I thought it would be! =)

p.s. you look like a bada$$ in your motorcycle helmet!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! That is TOTALLY cool with me!! ๐Ÿ˜€

      Yesssss! I knew I could rock the biker b!$@# look! #nailedit ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. Steph says:

I absolutely love that you referred to your egg as a “poultry progeny” – that totally made me laugh! ๐Ÿ˜› All your eats look delish!

BEST thing I ate this weekend? Grilled chicken marinated in some sort of soy-sesame-lime mixture.. Gah, I need that recipe!

I honestly had no clue that a Winding was a thing outside of MS word! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha, glad you liked it! Always happy to know I’ve brought a smile to someone’s face…especially a beautiful one like yours! ๐Ÿ˜‰

That chicken DOES sound good! Soy and sesame is already a great flavor combo, but with lime? Yum!

  4. YUM! Oh my goodness your eats look amazing! I love hitting up all the samples at the Farmers Market! And it sounds like you found some delicious things to take home with you!

  5. Haha I’m totally cracking up at some of your alliterations like poultry progeny and crispy crustacean cousins! ๐Ÿ˜› It looks like you had some awesome eats this weekend though! It’s been way too long since I had fro yo and yours just gave me a big craving!

The best thing I ate this weekend was a sandwich from work – local roasted turkey, avocado spread, tomato, sprouts and onion on buckwheat bread. Seriously so good!

  6. Well, dang there’s a whole lotta deliciousness going on here! Sounds like you’ve been enjoy IE! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I hope you’re having an amazing week!

  7. So I got halfway through this post, and I had to stand up and walk over to the fridge to add frozen waffles to my grocery list. You sparked a craving!

And you may have sparked one for Greek food as well. Looove lamb.

I’m pretty sure the best thing I ate over the weekend were the bites of pulled pork poutine I grabbed off of the boyfriend’s plate at dinner on Saturday :-p

    • kissmybroccoli says:

“pulled pork poutine”?!?!! Omg, that sounds AMAZING!! And bravo for keeping the alliteration going girlie! ๐Ÿ˜‰

And seriously, I’m on a total Greek food kick right now! I totally dug into a huge block of feta that I’ve been hiding hoarding SAVING for the last month or so and I’ve been adding it to EVERYTHING! Lol

  8. Wow just wow on all of your eats this weekend they looked all kind of delicious! My major highlights were brunch twice with both times having poached eggs on toast with smoked salmon and avocado, my absolute favourite go-to for brunch ๐Ÿ™‚

We finally see the man friend, even if he is hiding in his helmut, hehe

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh yes, nothing says brunch like smoked salmon! I’ve done eggs with salmon, but I can’t believe I’ve never thought to pair it with avocado…OR to put all three together! Sounds delish!

  9. This is why I don’t read blogs before breakfast. I am absolutely salivating over pretty much everything…the yolk porn, the hummus (boo for cripsy pita), the fajitas, the huge greek salad. My stomach is growing something fierce and my hand suddenly looks appetizing. I must go eat, but before I do, the jalapeno honey mustard might be good in your chicken and waffle potato chips.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Omg, WOMAN you ARE a genius!! Seriously, this mustard would make a stick taste good, but ohhhh yeah, it is most definitely going on some chicken and waffle chips!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Hmmm, how’s the hand? Please tell me I’m not responsible for any gnarled nubs! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  10. I’m drooling over here. no more runny eggs for me for a MONTH. WTF?! And no fro-yo. Or Mexican. I’m no longer reading your blog. LOL! ๐Ÿ˜‰

And yes, wingding has another meaning in my house growing up.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh lord, I’m afraid to ask! And awww, I forgot that it’s time for your competition diet to start! Ohhhh, I bet you’re REALLY mad that I sent you that pic of asparagus the other day, huh? ๐Ÿ˜‰ Ooops? Haha!

  11. HA! I love how you and I both do NOT have a sweet tooth! The thought of wedding cake makes me gag which gets me thinking… what will I have at my wedding? I’ve always said I want ice cream instead ๐Ÿ˜€ HEHEHEHEHEHE! <3 I can always go for ice cream. I know it's "sweet", but it's not the same thing as cake sweet – blech.

So, right when you mentioned jalapeno jam my mouth watered! I've never had a strawberry version before!? Ever since having this papaya I've been actually thinking of making a papaya jalapeno jam???? I'm wondering if that's possible/how to go about that! Gosh I'm just so into this papaya lately ๐Ÿ˜€

I cannot get over the fact that you called your egg a poultry progeny hahahahahahha why are you so cool?

I had no clue about the font and THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR NAIL COLOUR! I wad DEFINITELY going to ask/make some sort of mention about it ๐Ÿ˜‰

    LOVE LOVE LOVE U

  12. FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you for the share button & all the other shares gadgets! I am so excited! ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. monica says:

the best thing I ate was my first Quest bar ๐Ÿ™‚ what is your favorite froyo topping? I can’t stick with just one – I always have to combine a couple choices! Typically mochi, mango and something like graham crackers or cheesecake bites (since, ya know, it’s a dessert *most* of the time ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww, you’re very FIRST Quest bar?! What flavor did you go with? My favorites are the cookie dough, chocolate brownie, vanilla almond, and the banana nut muffin! I swear I can’t believe it took me so long to try my first one!

And oh yeah, fro-yo is almost ALWAYS a dessert for me…hey, I give you props for adding some fruit! I’m so obsessed with all the cereals that I forget about adding anything of actual substance! Lol

  14. Oh wow all of that food looks so good! Yum!
Love your adventures with fro yo- I wish I had a fro yo place near me, although maybe my bank balance wouldn’t thank me for it haha as I think I’d be there all the time!!
Looks like you had great fun at the farmers market; freebies are always a good thing hahaha!!

  15. LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU!!! Ha. Too cute. And yes, LOVE the nail polish!!
Your farmers market looks WAY cool!
All that Greek makes me hangry ๐Ÿ˜‰ Gotta love some great Greek fare!

  16. Ha! I was admiring your nails throughout that whole post. ๐Ÿ™‚

The dippy egg on toast is a favorite of mine . . . but with jam, too? Very interesting combination. I’ve never thought of doing that.

The best thing I ate last weekend was the salmon I posted today. Holy cow–it was incredible! The fish was so fresh and perfect, it melted in our mouths.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh yeah! Eggs and jam are like…my jam! Lol For the record, I never actually say that! ๐Ÿ˜‰ You should try it sometime…the eggs, not the odd use of metaphor…it’s really good with cheese too!

  17. So much tasty food…incredible! I think I want to eat your whole post!

  18. Ooh I love perfectly cooked eggs! I’m jealous that you have no sweet tooth – that would make my life a lot easier! Though cake I can easily pass up – it’s cookies that I have a hard time saying no to! PS Your Quest bar looks amazing!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Honestly, cookies get me too…but luckily I tend to be a bit snobbish about my cookies…they HAVE to be soft and chewy…UNLESS it’s a shortbread cookie, but then it has to be an almond-flavored one! Lol What can I say, I know what I like! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  19. Madi says:

Oh my dear, you are a hoot. Also, waffles. I.Want.Them. And just about everything else you ate actually. Share-sies? thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. You are the cutest.

And now I want Fruity Febbles.

P.S. You need to teach me how to properly fry an egg. Mine are pretty…but not THAT pretty.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Suuuuuuuuuuuper easy! I used to eat my eggs over-medium, but I have the hardest time not over-cooking the yolk so I took to making them sunny-side up instead and now I’m EGG-dicted! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I just cook it on medium heat and once the white starts to set, I cover the pan with a lid and let it continue cooking until done! Usually takes like 5-6 minutes total! ๐Ÿ˜€

  21. purelytwins says:

best thing we ate past weekend was sushi ๐Ÿ™‚

  22. Poultry progeny and anyhoodles are my now my new favorite expressions. I will try to incorporate them into my day! What a great looking weekend Heather. LOVE the mojito madness on your nails, and I would truly love to share a pitcher of mojitos with you. I’m quite sure madness would ensue. (and our respective men would roll their eyes!)
    Have a wonderful Wednesday!!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! LOVE it!! You totally just made me laugh out loud!

And for the record, I totally stole “anyhoodles” from a friend of mine last week! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ Haha!

  23. Oh my gawd I want that PoBoy! Like now. Gimme. All your eats look yummy ๐Ÿ™‚ Love the nail color.

  24. GOSH your food always looks so good!! I love the idea of cereal on fro-yo…I’ll have to try that!

  25. Emily says:

Drooling over here, as usual! Hummus and pita bread/chips is seriously my weakness. I think I could eat mediterranean food every day and never get sick of it!
And I’m not going to lie, I’m a sucker for toaster waffles. They can’t really be compared to homemade (very different categories!) but they’re delicious!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Omg, ME TOO!! Greek food all day…every day! And I have to agree with you on the waffles…only thing is I wish the toaster ones didn’t cool off so darn quick! By the time I top them and sit down to eat, they’re already at room temp! Grrr!

  26. Wow! What a wonderful weekend of eats Heather! I’m salivating over the frozen yogurt! It’s so warm here today and that sounds so good! Alas, no dairy for me ๐Ÿ™ But I just might be making banana frozen yogurt this evening ๐Ÿ™‚

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww! Do any of the shops around you have sorbet? I’ve actually getting pretty fond of them lately…which is good since it keeps me from having to down a handful of Lactaid pills! :-/

  27. The adult world needs more Fruity Pebbles. … brings back so many smiles! ๐Ÿ™‚

  28. Wallowing in wondrous waves of words I’m wondering what to reply. Seriously, though, how did you ascertain my admirance of alliterations ;)? Okay, I thiiiink I mentioned being an all-over grammar and word nerd in an e-mail before. Thanks for making my little nerdy heart beat happy :).
Marvelling at the poetry of this post I actually had to scroll back at the end to really take note of the food – will you believe it?! Looks like you truly had a drool-inducingly delicious feekend :). Though I’m a little worried hearing about your lack of a sweet tooth – did you consult a doctor about that yet ;)?

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Hahahahahaahaha! Omg, MP, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!! Seriously, this just made my night! And speaking of emails….I’m off to write up a response that is righteous of your reading! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  29. Haha! You totally anticipated my question about your nail color! Love it!

  30. bahaha! I was about to ask what color your polish was! ๐Ÿ™‚ Love it!!
I’m dying over all your food right now too! I can’t wait to share a meal with you… soon! ๐Ÿ™‚

  31. lindsay says:

you had me at wild and wonderfully but then i saw Greek and just died of taste bud heaven… gah

  32. Now THAT is a goooooood runny yolk!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  33. Hi Heather!
Thanks so much for stopping my my blog and leaving such sweet comments! Made my day ๐Ÿ™‚ Everything in this post looks amazing. That jam + egg combo is definitely going into my “What I need to make from Kiss my Broccoli” bookmark haha! Hope you had a great day!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww, haha! Seriously, it’s the best! And if you can, throw a little melty cheese in there too…soooo good!
