Gooberosity & a Giveaway!

Whazzzzzzzzzzzzaaaaaaaaaaaaaap?!

Please tell me you guys remember this!

Oh umm, hi!

So I don’t really feel like putting up a post today. It’s rainy out (can you tell from the wild and unruly curls?) and after 4 days of summer weather, I feel a bit rowdy…stir crazy…hyper.

I thought about doing a vlog.

But do people REALLY ever watch them? Well, besides me because I’m always curious to see how funny people sound…er, I mean just to hear their voices! Yeah…that’s what I meant. So yeah, I thought about doing a vlog, but it’s kind of a pain because YouTube totally sucks and my words never match up to the way my mouth moves…and if I use another website, it takes like 2 hours to load. And I don’t have time for that.

Because I’m feeling rowdy.

You guys ever watch Scrubs?

“Oh Rowdy, how do you get so dirty?” πŸ˜‰

Wait, what was I talking about? …Oh yeah, ME! <- Go figure!

So, instead of a vlog, how about some still frames? Hey, if a pictures worth a thousand words, this will be a HELL of a lot quicker than a video!

So, I was feelin’ gansta-ish after that first shot…

Representin’ Avery Brewery Yo’

Ugh, makes me miss all my Blends! But in just a few short weeks, I’ll be seeing them again! Are you going this year?!

Photo on 2013-04-11 at 15.02 #6

Dude, WHEN is the last time I had a beer?

Photo on 2013-04-11 at 15.03 #5

I kinda look cool like this…kinda.

Until you start to stare at it…then I just look like a goober.

Photo on 2013-04-11 at 15.05Everybody say, “Haaaaaaai, Tiger”!

That’s funny, wonder why he ran away…?

Crap, now I’m covered in cat hair!

Photo on 2013-04-11 at 15.07

LOOK, I did my nailzzzzzz!

Photo on 2013-04-11 at 15.07 #2

Oh hey, can you guys do this?

Photo on 2013-04-11 at 15.07 #3

But I can only do it with one hand.

Photo on 2013-04-11 at 15.08 #6

Yep, I’m a goober!

Photo on 2013-04-11 at 15.15 #2

But I’ve got something for ya for putting up with my gooberosity!

Photo on 2013-04-11 at 15.03 #7

Oh yeah, something for YOU!

Photo on 2013-04-11 at 15.03 #6Or mayyyyyyyyyyyybe YOU?Β

How about one of these babies?

Perhaps you remember the last time I hosted a Slimkicker GIVEAWAY?!

“SlimKicker is a diet and fitness tracker that takes your diet/fitness goals and turns them into a level-up game. You upload an image of something you’ll reward yourself such as a new DVD, and when you reach a certain number of points, we’ll remind you to reward yourself with that. SlimKicker also has a recipe section forΒ diets like Medifast and Weight Watchers

Well, a couple of weeks ago, I was contacted by one of the SK peeps and asked if I’d be interested in hosting another. Now, while I don’t count calories anymore or have any use for a diet/fitness tracker, I DO love the idea behind this program…motivating people to live healthier by making small changes in their every day life!

So here’s how it’s gonna go down…

All you have to do is leave a comment with a fun idea for a fitness and diet challenge!

Here are a few examples:
New Foods Challenge:Β Chose a one new food or recipe to make each week to challenge your tastebuds to something different.
Rise & Shine Challenge:Β Get up 30 minutes early everyday to give yourself some quiet/down time before you begin your busy day.
Stretch & Roll Challenge: Aim for 10-15 minutes after each day to stretch and/or foam roll tight muscles.

Ha! Made all those up by meee-self! πŸ˜‰

The good ol’ boys (and girls) at SK will choose the one they like the best! The winner’s challenge will be featured on the their website AND they’ll also get a brand spankin’ new slow cooker!

Photo on 2013-04-11 at 15.15 #4

Sound good? Yeah, I thought so! πŸ˜‰

Open to US residents only. Giveaway will run until next Thursday (11:59pm CST) with the winner announced as soon as possible!

Β Good luck and happy Friday!

xoxo

  1. Bahah you are adorable. Maybe tmi, but I personally could use some sort of gut health challenge now that it is officially frozen yogurt weather ;-).

  2. Jessie says:

I didn’t know it was possible to be adorable, yet totally gangsttaaaa @ the same time… but you have once again proved me wrong. Bam you nailed it!!!

  3. joann says:

Have a salad every night for supper and be creative! Add vegetables and fruit (cooked or raw) and enjoy!

  4. Your cat is too cute! I’m so jealous I so want a cat but our landlord won’t let us.

  5. Allie says:

OH MY GOD I LOVE YOUR FACE. And you. This totally made my morning.

  6. This totally isn’t an entry (nope, can’t tempt me into counting again…though I do need a new slow cooker…humm….) BUT YOU ARE SO FRIGGIN CUTE! It cracks me up!!
And I totally love vlogs JUST because I get excited about guessing if someone’s voice matches their pictures! Haha. Terrible, right? Love it.

  7. I love this post, and I would totally watch a vlog if you did one. I think we were on a similar vibe today because I did a self potrait too and included a video of the felines, although I don’t know how to do a video so we’ll see how that plays out. Your pictures are fabulous and your captions are hysterically.

My fitness challenge: Eat real food. Use your crockpot to do it.

  8. Hahaha omg, this just made my day. Hmm a challenge? How about move more each day: take a walk on your lunch break, stand while on the computer, do a plank during a commercial, etc!

  9. Emily says:

I would love to see a “Waste not, want not” challenge to make us aware of how much food we (unintentionally) waste. I recently read an article about how much food Americans waste and it’s horrifying.

  10. Eric says:

    Yep, goober!

  11. Dude. you have NO idea how much discipline it took me to finish my blog today. I was not feeling it in the dreary weather. Thank god I’d already drafted most of it… but can you tell how scattered I was?!

Challenge idea: Get in the gym and do something that scares you. (Ex: Add another 10lbs to your squats, or try front squats.)

  12. You ARE a goober. And I love you.

I still like my challenge from the LAST giveaway, and even though they didn’t pick it before, I’m saying it again: challenge myself to unplug in the MORNING, not just at night…wake up and not immediately check my phone for IG/emails, etc.

  13. Chloe says:

I am always curious about what peoples voices sound like too, especially after reading them on their blogs in written word!

  14. Madi says:

Vegan Desserts challenge! Because I like desserts and I like vegans (they’re funny to listen to). So make your favorite dessert vegan-ified and still delicious. we don’t want any sand tasting recipes up in here!

  15. WOW! What an amazing giveaway AND POST! Loved this so much and it made me fall in love with you even more πŸ™‚ Who knew that was even possible, huh????? πŸ˜‰ !!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA! Oh Heather, I seriously love you so so much! I loved when you said this – “Ha! Made all those up by meee-self!”

    You’re so cute!

Ok, so here’s my idea for a challenge:

Hydrate for Health Challenge – drink a gallon of water per day (or just increase your water intake)

I’ve noticed that I have been slacking BIG time, so it’s something I’m currently working on.

  16. Gosh, girl, I LOVE you!! I was literally LOOOOLING about this post. And I ALWAYS watch the vlogs, cause I am so curious (my boss gave my fanca headphones to listen to music while working for better concentration…who says a good voice doesn’t make me all motivated for work??!! πŸ™‚ )
Hope you get better weather soon Hunn, enjoy your weekend!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Well, in that case, it was worth every bit of gooberosity! πŸ˜‰ I LOVE listening to music at work…that’s one good thing about working nights, I’m all by myself so I can just crank it up and dance whenever I want (well, unless I have a patient…gotta keep SOME professionalism ya know! ;))

  17. betty says:

with the nice weather, i want to challenge myself to a GET OUTDOORS challenge. try a new exercise outdoors each week.. go swimming, hiking, biking, or maybe just walking (since everyones been cooped up inside) i’m starting this week by taking the dogs out walking everynight when i get home. i’m looking into a bike so i can bike around my neighborhood soon!

  18. I’ve actually been setting goals to drink more water, so I’m on the “Gallon Challenge” (Not original, but accurate). I also am trying to stretch 10 minutes a day (at least) and wear my retainer every night (HOT!). haha.

  19. Andrea M says:

A 1-food, 1-move challenge: 1 meal a day with all real foods + at least 30 minutes a day where you break a sweat! Let’s move people! πŸ™‚

  20. I’m going to Blend!! My first getaway for a blogger meet up. I am very excited. πŸ™‚ Looking forward to meeting everyone!!

Since I already have a slow cooker, that’s collecting dust and I am partially fearful of, I will challenge myself to at least 2 slow cooker meals a week for the month of May.

Love the still frames btw. And I can totally rock the “Live Long and Prosper” on both hands.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awwwwwww! REALLY?!?!!! Yay! I’m so excited!!! You know…in case you can’t tell by my overuse of exclamation points! πŸ˜‰ Omg, you’re going to love it! And I can’t wait to meet you! You’ll have to teach me some ambidextrous Spock skills! Lol

  21. Jenny says:

How about this for a new food challenge?

Fill your plate with more than 3+ different colors of foods (ex. orange carrots, green salad, white chicken breast, etc.) to make sure you are getting a balanced meal each time!

  22. Your pictures in this post crack me up. And for the record, I would totally watch your vlog. πŸ™‚

Anyways, I think a good overall healthy goal might be to incorporate deep breathing/meditation exercise into your daily routine. Personally, I have never been one to meditate (but if you can, great!), but instead, I learned some techniques for de-stressing, being more mindful, and slowing down, by using deep breathing that only take a minute or two. And it makes a huge difference!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww, thanks love! It’s been at least a year or so since I’ve done one, but who knows, I might get a wild hair here soon! πŸ˜‰

LOVE the deep breathing…THAT I can do (I’ve never been good at meditation either…I always end up thinking about my next meal! Lol)

  23. Brandi says:

Stretch and move every 30 minutes when I am at my work desk and drink at least 4 oz of water before I sit back down to continue with work.

  24. This post is off the hook. Made my day.
Say three positive aspirations when you wake up.
    Happy Friday, Heather!!

  25. samantha says:

food challenge: each week create a recipe based off a different spice example: cinammon, garlic, chilli powder etc embrace real food and have trust your bodies signals! conquer some fear foods!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh yeah!! That sounds AWESOME and so much fun! There are so many spices out there that I want to experiment with…and heck, about 75% of them are actually IN my cupboard! Lol

  26. Rachel says:

I love the idea of a water challenge! Always trying to drink more water.

  27. kolya says:

Park extra far away when running errands to squeeze in more walking and basking in gorgeous weather!

Your kitty makes me want to adopt one asap (:

  28. Hahaha!!!! You crack me up! AND now I’m even more hesitant to do a Vlog post πŸ˜‰ Kidding of course πŸ™‚ My health fitness challenge idea isn’t very creative and I’m sure it’s been done before. Eat one serving of vegetables with every meal. It’s good to get them in with your breakfast too!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Do it…I’ll let you know how many times I snicker while watching it! πŸ˜‰

I love the veggie challenge…always a good to start small…and hey, a lot of people don’t even THINK about having veggies for breakfast!

  29. No need to enter me but wanted to say how funny this post was & the cute pics!!!!

  30. Emily says:

    Haha! SOOO cute!

Hmmm…how about incorporating a new vegetable into your recipes every week? I’ve found that I typically stick to the same handful of veggies (that I’m comfortable cooking) but I definitely want to expand my horizons!

  31. Cl says:

My challenge: stay hydrated! I keep forgetting to drink water in the warmer weather, and I start feeling kind of “off”: head-achey, tired, listless. Then, I remember to fill up my water bottle and end up gulping down the whole thing in 2 minutes! Guess I was thirsty after all! I need to do a better job of keeping myself hydrated (and NOT allowing myself to justify grabbing a diet soda in the name of hydration haha)

  32. Amanda says:

Too cute!! Yeah I’ve been considering doing vlogs too. I’ve done one to talk about thinking about doing them…. makes like no sense right? πŸ˜‰

  33. karina says:

how about buying a new fruit or vegetable each time you go to the grocery store and then finding a new recipe to use it in?

  34. Misti says:

Oh, this post made me laugh. And so did Tiger, who looks an awful lot like my Salem (who would have been JUST as thrilled with a photo op).

How about a Go Vegetarian challenge? Everyone should try it at least once, just to see what a wide variety of foods are actually out there. Going vegetarian for a week (or more) is an awesome way to experience new foods. And a slow cooker makes it even easier!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

So true! I can’t believe how a few years ago I was just CONVINCED that you had to have some kind of meat for every dinner! I’m not vegetarian now, but I can probably count on one hand the number of times I’ve had meat this week!

Aww, Salem is such a cute kitty name! I really don’t know why Tiger doesn’t like photo ops…he’s actually VERY photogenic (says the proud mama to a green-eyed bundle of fluff! ;))

  35. I think this is my most favorite blog post in the history of blogs. Do it again!

  36. Bahaha! You totally made my morning with this post. LOVE YOU. Love your gooberness. Love Tiger’s completely unamused face! Can I come over and babysit him? I’m good at getting cats to look at straight into cameras.

Actually, that’s not true. I’ve never owned a cat, so I wouldn’t know. What I do know is that I can’t wait to meet you at Blend!! One month away!

    Hrmm…challenge idea….How about this:

“Up and at ‘Em Challenge”–Start the morning with push-ups, sit-ups, v-ups–or your favorite plyometric movement. First day go for one minute, second day for two minutes, third day for three minutes…you get the picture. By the end of the week, you’re at 7 minutes-which is practically a full workout! I’ve actually started doing this in the morning, and I swear it makes me a huge difference in my morning. Like, I’m semi-awake even BEFORE I start pumping coffee into my body. :-p

Happy weekend, ma’ dear! <3 xoxo

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Wow, what a way to get your morning off to a good start! I love the increasing time!

And seriously, you are too stinking cute! You can come over ANY time and catsit for me…I’ll make you pancakes and then we can go out for sushi! πŸ˜‰ I can’t believe it’s only a few more weeks until Blend!! I’m so excited/anxious/in need of a suitcase! Eeeek! 😯

  37. I stinking love you! You just made my day. I love vlogs, but I think I love this even more!! πŸ™‚ I can’t wait for Blend! Can it be May already??
My challenge is the challenge I’m doing right now.. Spring Cleaning. Get all the extra crap out of your life! All that stuff that clutters your home, your health, and your mind!

  38. Fast Eddie says:

    Challllannnnge Accepted!

Once a week go an entire day without eating anything white in the diet…no flour, potato, rice, mayo…..you get the idea! It will force you to really think ahead…..and no – food coloring something doesn’t count!

  39. Nicole G says:

TV Abs Challenge – For every 30 minutes of television you watch (or tv on the internet!) do a 1 minute plank. I know I watch too much tv but a nice plank during commercials is better than nothing =)

  40. yuli says:

love all the picture post, such a cute and funny girl! how about a challenge where you try a new veggie or food every week? or before hitting the sheets to strech and unwind without any technology? i could listen to my ideas as well πŸ™‚

  41. You are freaking adorable!!! I miss you and can’t wait to see you!

Now as for a fun challenge, a few years ago I did a 30 day yoga challenge that absolutely changed my life and my body! It was AMAZING and it’s something I want to do again so that would be my challenge! πŸ™‚

  42. I’ll start with a short three word sentence. I LOVE YOU!!! Not in a pervy way, but OMG…I am so happy I found your site, it never fails to make me smile. I love Tiger too. Neva gives us the “put me freakin’ down” face too. πŸ™‚ I’m in Canada, so no entry for me, but I had to comment anyway. Have a fantastic rest of your day. Pats to Tiger.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww, Rozzzzzzzzzz!!! I love you too!! Seriously? You should SEE the cheese-eating grin on my face right now! Mmmm, cheese! πŸ˜‰

  43. Calee says:

this post made me laugh a lot. LOVE Avery brewing and I definitely would love to go there again with you lovely ladies sometime. can’t wait to see you in just a bit over a month!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Omg, same here! I had so much fun that night! And I can’t believe we’re only down to WEEKS before we get to see each other again! Yahooooooo!

  44. Cait says:

Shower challenge. Do a short series of cardio exercises before each shower. Hey, we all shower each day, so it’s an easy way to get some extra cardio in!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

When I first read this, I thought you said to do cardio exercises IN the shower! Hahaha! Now THAT would be a challenge…in more ways than one! πŸ˜‰

  45. sarah says:

Hmm. Maybe a farmer’s market challenge? Visiting your local farmers market and coming up with a meal based around what you buy there, too encourage eating local, real food from sustainable sources? Plus fostering a healthy food community! Perfect time of year for farmers markets too!

  46. Charissa says:

The ONE SMOOTHIE a DAY challenge – it’s a yearly fun thing for me…

BTW, you are adorable and I love this post so much!
