Shaking Things Up

Happy Sunday, friends!

I hope you are all having a fantastic weekend!

So I thought I’d switch it up a bit from our regular Pancake lovin’ posts…emphasis on the “lovin'” from last week’s little escapade! πŸ˜‰ and share a few words on some AMAZING products I’ve been able to try recently.Β Thanks to being a Fitfluential ambassador, I had the opportunity to sample some new protein supplements from Designer Whey.

Designer Whey Package

A couple of weeks ago I received a boxΒ FULL of goodies including protein bars, protein powders, ready-to-drink shakes, and even some to-go mixes!

Since it’s no secret how much I LOVE my snack bars, you can bet that was the first thing I tried out of my little box…

Designer Whey Protein Bars

Out of all three of the bars, I liked the chocolate one the best. I SWEAR it tasted like they took a Rice Krispie treat and coated it in Whoppers!

Designer Whey Chocolate BarMmm, come to mama!

The caramel one was my second favorite, but unfortunately, I didn’t care for the peanut butter…though I do tend to think I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to “healthified”Β peanut butter-flavored protein/bars….I just thought it tasted kinda fake.

Next up where the Protein 2 Go mixes…

Designer Whey Protein 2 Go At only 50 calories a piece, they certainly aren’t considered a meal or even a substantial snack, but I love having them around for whenever I accidentally let myself get to “chew your own arm off” status and need a little something to tide me over while I fix up the “real deal meal”! πŸ˜‰

Designer Whey To-Go Shakes I thought the orange had a bit of an aftertaste, but the lemonade and the berry were both fantastic!

007 Tip of the Day: [Mixes] Better when shaken, not stirred! πŸ˜‰

As for the powders…

Designer Whey Protein Powder

I was SUPER excited to try out the white chocolate flavor since, even though I prefer dark chocolate now, I used to practically WORSHIP Hershey’s Cookies and Cream bars when I was younger! Unfortunately, even though there is only 2g of sugar (sweetened with stevia) it was WAY to sweet for my sensitive tastebuds. πŸ™

Designer Whey Shake But hey, at least it LOOKED pretty! πŸ˜‰

The French vanilla is a bit better in my opinion, but still a bit sweet so I’m thinking of adding a little to plain Greek yogurt to try…the tart of the yogurt usually helps cut the taste of overly sweet-tasting things for me.

Designer Whey RTDs The only thing I didn’t try was the ready-to-go shakes since I like to keep those on hand for emergency situations, but I’ll keep you guys posted on what I think when I do try them.

Thank you SO much,Β Designer Whey,Β for the amazing package and a chance to try all your fantastic products!

Disclaimer: While I did receive these items free of charge, all the above opinions expressed are of my own. I was not compensated in any way for the review of these products.

Have you ever tried any of Designer Whey’s shakes or bars?

What is your favorite high protein snack?
I love my bars, but lately I’ve been totally obsessed with Oikos’s Toasted Coconut yogurt!

I love your photo of the 3 protein 2 go mixes. So colorful!
I’ve tried a packet of the designer whey protein powder before and it was too sweet for my liking too. And too much of a strange aftertaste. I can’t remember what flavor it was…maybe french vanilla?
I still need to try that Oikos toasted coconut yogurt! Sounds so yummy. My favorite high protein snack is probably think thin bars – preferably the cookies and cream or the crunchy peanut butter flavors πŸ™‚

  2. Oh you know how much I love bars!! I have to say, the only one that I am convinced so far of is the Questbar (and I am so excited I just received TWO NEW FLAVORS from an amazing friend!!! πŸ™‚ ).
Your White Chocolate mix looks soo pretty and delicious, now I need to jump into the kitchen and get me some food done, otherwise I’ll eat the letters of my keyboard, I swear!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Well, I hope your keyboard survived this comment unscathed! πŸ˜‰ You gotta let me know what you think of the bars…though I’m almost positive you’ll love them both! πŸ˜€

  3. I love this company and everything they supply! The white chocolate protein powder is awesome! (:

  4. I like Chobani Greek yoghurt or laughing cow cheese or babybel cheese.

I haven’t tried any of the designer whey products before. Not sure if you can get them here.

  5. Fran@BCDC says:

I’ve never tried Designer Whey products. Sound interesting, though!

  6. I’ve never tried any of those products before!

My favourite high protein snack is Greek yogurt too – especially paired with some granola and berries.

    Happy Sunday!!!!

Sometimes its nice to switch it up, even though I miss the pancakes!

I have heard great things about designer whey, maybe one day I will try the powders! The bars look awesome too!
Have a greta day love! <3 xoxo

  8. I adored the white chocolate, which was weird because I’ve never liked white chocoalte. But when I made that microwave carrot cake with it, life was beautiful. I think all the stuff I added must have cute the sweet, though I did notice I only added half the stevia I usually do.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

That’s it, I’m sold! I bet if I didn’t add any stevia it would be perfect! I’ll keep ya posted! πŸ˜‰

  9. I don’t think I’ve ever tried Designer Whey stuff, I’ll have to keep an eye out. I’m especially intrigued by the triple chocolate crunch!

Favourite high protein snacks would have to be cheese strings, greek yogurt, and now that we’re getting back into warmer weather, smoothies with protein powder added.

  10. I have been dying to try the white chocolate flavor! I am so jealous of all of you, And you know this sweet tooth can handle it. Haha.

But even if you didn’t like it you of course DID make it pretty.

    The bars sound tasty too!

  11. I love the designer whey powderβ€”it’s sweet but a little goes a long way! Most of the time, though, I prefer things like Greek yogurt or dry-roasted edamame when it comes to high-protein snacks!

  12. Emily says:

I can’t believe that I’ve never tried any of their products- they all look amazing!
I definitely think the Caramel Protein Bars would probably be my favorite- I’m picky when it comes to peanut butter flavors too! And the to-go shakes would be perfect for my long shifts at work when I don’t have time for a break. I’ll have to keep an eye out for them!

    Thanks for the review. (:

  13. I have yet to try any Designer Whey shakes or bars! I’m always looking to try new things.

My favorite high protein snack has to be either homemade Chobani Greek froyo with stevia, cinnamon, and a blob of sunflower seed butter or a choc. chip Quest bar!

  14. I love the white chocolate powder! That toasted coconut yogurt sounds good as well some other flavored yogurts but I wish they would start using stevia instead of sugar! So I just stick to the plain and flavor it myself.

  15. Mmm you made the chocolate snack bar sound SO good. I’ve never tried Designer Whey protein powder but have often been tempted–it seems so widely available.
PS Are those repurposed kombucha bottles? Genius!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Yes ma’am! πŸ˜€ I swear I have DOZENS all around the house repurposed for different things! FYI, they make great mouth wash containers! πŸ˜‰

  16. I am more a sweet person so I love the protein powders. πŸ™‚ I like the way they mix too! I even mix the protein to go in my yogurt or other things if I want more flavor & some of the drinks in my coffee for a change of pace at times. πŸ™‚

I like the PB bar the best of the 3.. so funny how we all like different things!

Honest review & I like that!

  17. Jessie says:

I love the white chocolate powder.. especially with peppermint extract made into a shake! Hey, Im actually drinking one right this second =)

  18. I’ve never tried Designer Whey’s products–thanks for the review! My favorite–seriously favorite–high protein bar is Quest. I LOVE them. It’s pretty much the only packaged bar I’ll buy anymore (If I’m looking for lots of protein, that is. Otherwise, I do enjoy Larabars and Gnu bars.).

  19. Tastes like a whopper covered Rice Krispie treat. Are you kidding. If it didn’t have protein powder, I’d totally suck that down. I’d also be tempted by the white chocolate since back in the day, I’d prefer white chocolate. Then again, it’s probably because white chocolate isn’t actually chocolate; just butter, cream and sugar. πŸ™‚

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, come on now…you’d snub your nose at a whopper covered krispie treat JUST because it had protein in it? It actually doesn’t even taste like a “normal” protein bar…promise!

Yep, pretty sure that’s why I’ve always been fond of white chocolate too…even as a kid (with the exception of Reese’s cups), I was never a big chocolate fan.

      • Reese are always the exception. Especially the holiday Reese’s.

I’ll put it this way, the protein powder would keep me from buying them, but if one happened to fall into my lap, I might be persuaded to try. Then if I really liked it, I’d have to figure out a way to make it myself.

        • kissmybroccoli says:

I might just have to start sending you protein bars then, just so you can make me a recipe! Lol

You know I used to LOVE Reese’s, but I’ve had one in my freezer now for over a year and haven’t even thought about it!

          • Now that’s impressive and an IE win. I can’t remember the last time I ate an actual Reese but I have such fond memories.
I’m planning on trying to recreate the cereal: Sugar Smacks/Honey Smacks…remember those?

  20. Thanks so much go sharing this! Those flavors sound DIVINE! Thanks again for all your lovely comments on my blog πŸ™‚

  21. That’s too cool! I’m on FitFluential! Did you have to register for a box? Bummer! I missed it! My obsessed with Shakeology and making snacks or desserts with chocolate Shakeology. Recently, I mixed it with vanilla greek yogurt.. yummmmmo

  22. I hate fake peanut butter taste, too. That’s why I actually don’t always like peanut flour as a substitute for the ‘real thing.’ (It IS good for making drippy, though. ;))

And clearly, I am now wondering how to coat a Rice Krispies treat in Whoppers.
