Thinking Out Loud: Feelin’ Hot Hot Hot!

Good morrrrrrrrrrning, Vietnam Blogworld!

And yes, I’m fairly certain that I’ve aged myself with that greeting, but I don’t really care because it’s Thursday (which is my Friday) and you know what that means…time for another round of Thinking Out Loud!

First and FOREMOST, I want to say a big thank you to each and every one of you who left a comment on last Thursday’s post on Dieting PTSD. Like I said, that was not an easy one to publish but the amount of encouragement, support, and empathy you guys gave leaves me feeling empowered, humbled, and teary-eyed.

Oh my gosh, I love you guys!

Tulip Poplar Flower

You know what else I love? Pretty flowers! Last weekend, I went on another hike…this time on the trails over near my house. You know, the ones I always get lost on? Well, this time I did NOT get lost…exactly. I knew precisely where I was when I came out in the middle of a nearby neighborhood…that was four miles away from home!

Frog

Yep, one day I’ll learn, but until then, I’ll just keep losing my direction while picking flowers and stalking adorable little tree frogs! 😉 You guys should know that this pic was taken with my still NEW iPhone on FULL zoom…that little guy was about the size of a quarter!

Fan - Hot

We had some amazing weather last weekend and it has continued on into the week…every day it’s gotten up to at least the high 70’s…and it only took until last night for me to finally realize that the ceiling fans were NOT cutting it and turned on the AC! The deciding factor may or may not have been me sweating while trying to put on my makeup for work…oh yeah, all my ladies know what I’m sayin’!

Homemade KombuchaAs warm as it’s been, you’d think it only would have taken a few days for my homemade kombucha to finish brewing…but at day seven, a taste proved to still be too sweet for my liking. Baaaaaa-UT? At day ELEVEN she’s PERFECT!! Now it’s time to get to flayyyyyyy-voring!

*fist pump*

Another fist pump moment…I’ve been sleeping like an absolute ANGEL! Perhaps it’s because I’ve finally been feeling like myself again after two weeks of being “off”, perhaps it’s because I’ve been busier than a one-armed bandit at work each night, or perHAPS it’s because I’ve come to the realization that if you stack the liquid AND pill forms of Benedryl, you end up in pure slumber BLISS!

Gym Selfie

After a WHOLE MONTH of dedicating all of my sweet sweat time to my yoga mat, last Saturday, I made it to the gym for the first time! Endurance? What’s that?! Five minutes on the elliptical and I was already dripping from head to toe! And I totally went back yesterday for more!

Oh and I had a proud (non-masochistic) moment yesterday! After being kinda how-hum on the veggie front for the last week or so AND being that it is the time of the month where the only color I want to eat is brown CHOCOLATE, how about I ran to store for lemons and came out with…

Veggie Love

Snap peas, carrots, mushrooms, tomatoes…and bonus points for not forgetting the lemons! 😉

Greek Yogurt with Chocolate

But don’t you worry, I made sure to balance out all that healthy shit with a bit of “summer” indulgence! 😉

Thinking-Out-Loud

Now hop on over to Spoons and see what everyone else is thinking about today!

Tell me, what’s on your mind this week?

How’s the weather been?

  1. We’re not talking about the weather. We just aren’t. We’re not going to talk about the fact that it snowed just a few days ago and that while temperatures have improved, they’re nowhere near where they should be at this time of the year. Dang. But summer is coming soon! 😀 And BLEND!!! Guess who’s got her plane ticket booked?!?! Now there’s no way you’ll be able to avoid me 😛

    • kissmybroccoli says:

SNOW?! What the WHAT???? But I’m with you…enough about the weather…I get to hug you in TWENTY FOUR DAYYYYYYYYYYS! 😀

  2. It’s sunny and like 20 (70) today!!! Ohmygod, this makes me so happy. Yayyy summer clothes! I’m thinking that the pug will get an extra long walk today…and I wish I had somewhere nearby to go hiking!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ohhh, I’m hoping the weather cooperates this year at Blend so we can go on a hike! It rained last year and some people were brave enough to try it, but my new running shoes (and my 1 month post-op knee) weren’t gonna take the gamble! Lol

  3. I know what you mean! I gave up regular “exercise” for yoga not too long ago and now, being interested in revisiting cardio and weights, now my endurance is down the drain. I have kind of accepted it though. I just keep it moderate – enough to get my heart rate up a bit. 🙂

    Awesomepost

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thank you so much, Caitlyn! And ok, that makes me feel a LOT better! Crazy how fast we can loose our endurance, isn’t it?

  4. It’s been actually a bit chilly here these past few days, but it’s finally getting up past 20 degrees Celsius tomorrow and I cannot wait!

Did you decide on a kombucha flavour yet?! I’m so intrigued with the idea of making my own!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! I actually couldn’t decide on one, so I tried my hand at guessing measurements and made all six bottles a different flavor! Fingers crossed that in a few days I’ll have six bottles that will blow my tastebuds away! 😉

  5. Hilary says:

Oh the weather here has been gorgeous! After below zero temperatures this past winter we hit the 80’s today and had to turn on the ac, I thought this day would never come!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Yay! Oh girl, I’ve felt the same way! It’s so nice not to have to layer up every time I need to go to the mailbox! haha!

  6. Let’s say that -if- you aged yourself with that introductiory line you can always keep saying you’re like wine: better by the year [not like I had the slightest clue what I’m talking about when it comes to wine, ha] ;).
The weather is a bit of a sensitive topic for me right now. Because after trying to sell German sunshine to everybody in the US, Canada and Australia last time we’re suddenly lacking it here, too. Bye bye, big business…

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ah yes, I like the way you think, lady! A fine wine indeeeeeed! Haha! Hope that sunshine comes out of hiding for you soon, love! Otherwise, you may have to start rethinking your business strategy…how are you with crayons and GIANT-SIZED poster board! 😉

  8. The sound of you sleeping makes me happy because it means you’re getting some good rest. I bet the besties and all that wine had something to do with that. They’re good at bringing peace of mind.

You can keep that snack…alright fine, after I’ve stolen a bite or two, and give me those veggies. Well except the peas. Peas weird me out, unless they’re sugar snap peas. The Hubby loves peas though; maybe you can trade him some peas for laundry folding.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww, c’mon…give PEAS a chance!! <- Face it, you knew I was gonna go there...it would be a crime not to take advantage of such an opportunity! ;) Though I will say, if it came down to it for snacks sake...snap peas would win every time! And? It did take me a while to get over the childhood scarring that was canned peas at the dinner table! Blech! >.< Yes, yes, YES!! More time with the besties lately has done WONDERS for my level of balance...or really just getting out and doing MORE instead of staying in all the damn time! It's kinda funny, because I used to think I was a lot more introverted than I actually am!

  9. Super-Woman. 5 minutes on the elliptical garners sweat? I’m lucky if I reach 50 minutes to even huff. Clearly working hard right there.

Don’t give me weather envy…..I realised I left all my jackets and coats in Melbourne thinking Sydney would be warmer. That was a stupid thought. A very stupid one.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Duuuuude, I didn’t even have it amped up that high! I mean, no more than I used to be able to handle! It’s crazy how quickly you can lose cardio endurance! I’m just hoping to get back at it before the summer…there’s just something about the warmer months…I just can’t keep myself inside! And I’ve GOT to be able to keep up with myself! haha!

Sorry to hear about the weather, hon! I forgot we’re swapping seasons here…feel free to gloat once I start complaining about the relentless humidity and frizzy hair! 😉
