Hey hey and HAPPY FRIIIIIIIIDAY!!

I saw this cute little survey over on Amanda’s blog the other day and I thought it’d be perfect for a little Friday fun so I stole not only the post idea, but her little dog too the title too! As you guys know, I’m a total sucker when it comes to surveys…the funny thing is I always think these things will be short and sweet…yet they always end up taking me HOURS to write! Go figure!

Name your Favorite…

Person…

Selfie

It may be a little narcissistic, but I’d have to say ME! Not all the time of course, but hey, if you can’t love yourself, how can you love others? Plus, I can keep myself entertained for hours (I thank being an only child for eight years for that)…and with a schedule like mine, that is MORE than necessary!

Color…

GREEEEEEEEEN! Ya know, like broccoli! 😉

Food…

Pizza

Has been and ALWAYS WILL BE, pizza!

Smell…

I love, love, LOVE the smell of fresh ground coffee, but lately, when I’ve been out on my walks at the park, I’ve been catching whiffs of honeysuckle…and seriously? HEAVEN!

Book…

It’s been years since I’ve picked it up, but ever since I first read Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, I’ve always said it was my favorite. It’s a relatively large book (for me anyway) and I have to say it was a proud moment when I finished it in ONE weekend…yes, it’s THAT good!

Movie…

I’ve said for years that my favorite movie is 10 Things I Hate About You since the besties and I can pretty much quote it word for word, but as far picking one to better gauge my personality, I’d have to go with Monty Python and the Holy Grail…which my dad and I can pretty much quote word for word! 😉

Time of day…

Dusk Sunset

Dusk. There’s just something about watching the sun settle slowly into the horizon and feeling all the day’s energy winding down. Well all the energy but mine since technically a sunset is a night-shift worker’s sunrise!

Day of the week…

I never EVER thought I’d say this, but…Thursday…as in the day that used to be the bane of my existence since it’s the day I use to shift my sleep schedule back to “normal” hours for the weekend. A few weeks ago though, I found a good groove…only allowing myself to sleep for 2-3 hours, then I go to yoga, and then…I spend the rest of the day basking in my yoga glow! 😀

Thing to do when I’m bored…

Instagram…gets me EVERY time…notice all these pictures are square? Not a coincidence!

Celebrity…

You guys know I don’t really do the whole celebrity thing, but I guess if I had to choose just one, I’d say Robert Downey Jr…manly, oh yes, he’s manly inDEED, but I mean MAINLY because I love his “don’t give a fuck” attitude!

Drink…

Coffee

Coffee…especially when it tastes like COOKIES…and especially when you’re a sensitive sistah like me and have to cherish the ONE cup you allow yourself to have a day so you don’t ping from wall to wall!

TV show…

As far as a show I feel I could watch over and over again, I guess I’d have to go with Scrubs. I mean, I did spend an entire day in x-ray school recreating the image they use in the intro!

Fruit…

Persimmons! Oh how I love those little squatty spheres of deliciousness! Now if only we could do something about extending persimmon season…I definitely did NOT get my fill this year…even with the ungodly amount that came home with me from ATL!

Vegetable…

Kabocha

C is for CKabocha! Roasted, steamed, baked into donuts, dipped in ketchup, dipped in nut butter, eaten straight out of the fridge…I mean, seriously? I have no idea how I ever lived a whole 26 years without it!

Store…

TJ Maxx

As if there was ever ANY doubt! Now, if only I could get them to pay me for all the advertising I give them! 😉

Workout…

I’ve gone through a LOT of phases when it comes to working out. There was that time I was all about running, then I was the “buff chick” in the weight room, and then…then there was yoga. I’d like to think this is not another phase, but a discovery of something that will forever change my life. Never have I had a workout affect me so much at my core. I may joke about drinking the “Koolaid” but truth be told, there is nothing that has ever compared!

Quote…

“I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see.” – John Burroughs

Boy’s/Girl’s name…

I’ve always loved the name Parker for a boy and Bailey for a girl…even if I feel like a total hipster for saying that! 😉

Potato chip flavor…

I’ll take tortilla chips over potato chips ANY day, but if I had to pick potato chips, I’d say give me some plain Ruffles…with ridges…and a big ass bowl of French onion dip! YUM!

Meal of the day…

Birthday Cake Protein Pancakes

Uh duhhhh…BREAKFAST…which is why I love to have it ANY time of day…and especially when I can pretend that EVERY day is my birthday!

Ice cream flavor…

Cake Batter Batter from Cold Stone Creamery. Allow me to paint you a picture of this frozen confection perfection: Rich, buttery cake batter ice cream FILLED to the brim with bites…no, MEGA CHUNKS of sweet chocolate chip cookie dough and gooey fudgey brownie pieces. Are you drooling yet? I know I am! And it’s worth every bit of gastrointestinal distress due to my lactose-challenged gut!

Season…

Fall! Or I guess I should say more of that in between season towards the end of summer and beginning of fall where the days are still long, but the nights start to get that slight chill in the air…you know, the ones that make you wanna get a good fire going and bust out the marshmallows!

Dessert…

CookieWhen it comes to dessert…as in after a meal, I will almost always go for fruit over chocolate, but as a snack…a midday nibble…or if someone happens to leave a tray unattended…it’s ALL about the cookies!

Lifehack…

My mama taught me this one a lonnnnnnnnng time ago and I can’t tell you how many times it’s saved me: When boiling water, place a wooden spoon in a pot and your water will never boil over! Oh and I also like throwing spaghetti against the wall to see if it’s done…but that’s probably just because I’m actually three years old and very VERY easily amused. 😉

What are some of your favorites?

  2. You’re my favorite too! Second only to myself. LOL!

I do the spaghetti thing too, but I think I just like throwing things. Also, I want to join your wine party from the prev post.

  4. Eric says:

My fave meal of the day is pizza!

My favorite person right now is tyrion..you’ll see why when you get caught up in season 4! Hopefully you have a long weekend to do it..

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ahhhhh, the suspense! No long weekend for me (seriously, why can’t the hospital be closed on holidays? What?!), but fingers crossed I’ll get some time later today at least!

  5. Dusk specifically in the summer is my FAVORITE. More than the morning, which I love all year round. I love the name Bailey for a girl too. Well, I did. Then a met a few mean Bailey’s and changed my tune. :p

PS you just reminded me of this book I read called Eleanor & Park. I recommend it! I have a feeling you’d like it based on your humor.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, gotta hate it when somebody ruins a perfectly good name for you! And funny you should mention that book…I actually had a friend recommend it to me a couple of months ago and I forgot about it! Thanks, I’ll have to check it out!

  6. Allison says:

I live near you (in Nashville) and have also been loooooving the smell of honeysuckle! Must be the season here or something.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Well hello there, neighbor! 😉 Yes, it must be! What’s funny, is I’ve been smelling them for weeks, but I’ve only begun to see them in the last few days. Crazy!

  7. Missy says:

    Favorite color is sparkly –
Time of day is twilight –
Meal of Day is Dinner (unless mindlessly snacking whil watching TV counts because I gotta admit I love that shiz.)

You reminded me of Kid President in this post.

“The world would be more awesome if Pizza.”

Oh and this is another one from him:

    Things that are awesome:
    1. Pizza
    2. Dancing
    3. Dancing Pizza

    • kissmybroccoli says:

“The world would be more awesome if you could make full sentence-eses, sentenc-sisssiss, sentaaaance-sis” LMAO! And omg, I’m totally changing my favorite color to sparkly! Love it!

  8. Tracey says:

That is such a fantastic pic of you! Btw: Just requested to see if my library has that book, needed a new summer read:)

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, thank you so much, Tracey! And you HAVE to tell me what you think of the book if you get a chance to read it! 🙂

  9. I’m avoiding answering any questions because I’m stealing this survey on Monday 😉 I love the names you picked out! But, I went to high school with a jackass who’s last name is Parker, so it’s kinda ruined for me. I hate it when that happens with good names.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh yeah, there are definitely a handful out there that have been ruined for me as well! And I did the same thing…by all means, steal away, love! 😀

  10. Trying that ice cream you mentioned is not on my weekend to-do list! One of my very favorite smells in the world is puppy breath. Call me weird if you must 🙂

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Hahaha! I guess the weirdness just depends on WHAT exactly the pup last had in his/her mouth, doesn’t it? 😉

  11. Oh my goshhhh I adore 10 Things I Hate About You. I’ve seen it like a million times and I never get sick of it! The scene where he sings to her in the bleachers and runs away from security? Love it!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh yes, one of my favorite scenes! The part where he runs up behind one of the security guards and smacks him on the butt kills me every time! Lol

  12. Lizzie says:

Fun fact! One of my history teachers in high-school was brother with one of the doctors on scrubs!!! His real name is Robert Maschio, but I’m not sure which part he played. And my teacher was always so chill about it…hahaha

  13. Tina Muir says:

Love this! We are similar in a lot of ways, and I loved learning more about you! By the way…..I LOVE that you made birthday cake pancakes!!!! That would be the best breakfast….which is also my favorite!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Aww, thank you, Tina! You are so sweet! And yep, I’m pretty sure birthday sprinkles make ANY breakfast that much better! 😉

  14. This week you’ve done nothing but give me pizza and cheese envy. The double sword of perfection.

I think we need a cold stone creamery here- I think I’m getting over fancy schmancy gelato and want to dig into some classics with substance- hello chunks of cookies. I need to find kabocha again- all we have now is Kent and Butternut urgh.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Well, I’m sorry I’m not sorry…let’s just say I’m getting you back for all the gelato teasing you’ve been doing! 😉

Kent? Is that some sort of Super Squash? Yep, I went there! Lol

  16. Surveys are great for writers blog until you realize it’s takes twice as long to write them. It’s like those Currently posts too, where I’m questioning whether these were a good idea to start or not. Oh well; I’m all in now right.

Life lesson: skirts and underwear play well together. 🙂

  17. Pizza is so good. So much variety!
Coffee is a morning addiction.. oops I mean obsession.. oops I mean favorite in the morning. 😉 I love the smell and taste so much. <3
Sunsets always takes my breath away!

  18. Hi Heather….long time no comment! Its been way too long since I caught up with your blog!!! We are so kindred spirits because I too can pretty much recite all of Monty Python and the Holy Grail word for word. My husband’s name is Dennis too, so the poor guy has to endure the Dennis/Holy Grail connection on a pretty regular basis as well. I try to use the words “farcical aquatic ceremony” his way as much as possible. And I have a fridge magnet that says “I fart in your general direction”. 🙂 Yup, that was all probably TMI! All the best!!!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Rozzzzzzzzz!!! Oh it’s so good to “hear” from you! Oh it’s been too long since I’ve moseyed over to your neck of the interwebs too! Hope you are doing well! That is too funny about Monty Python! You’re poor hubby! Haha! And now…I must go on the hunt for fridge magnets! Lol!
