WIAW: Tried and True and New!

Happy Wednesday dudes and dudettes!

Can you believe it? Me…partying it up TWO weeks in a row! Hmm…could this be a somewhat regular thing again? At least until daylight savings time starts and I start shaking my fist at the sky at 4pm? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!

This week, I’m sharing my eats from Saturday…where I got up jussssssss(yes this many s’s is completely necessary)t in time to make it to the farmer’s market before it closed and then had some ice cream for breakfast to celebrate! 😉

Quest Bars

After rolling over in bed and eyeing the clock, I saw I had TEN minutes to get out the door to make it to the market in time. I used 9.99999 of those minutes to pry my ass out of bed, tame the beast that resides on my head, and throw on some clothes. And since I had SO much time leftover, I made sure to prepare a decent meal…

Tried and true: [Peanut butter] Quest bar to the rescue!

The reality is that I ate the entire thing…wrapper and all in about 3 minutes…so there wasn’t even evidence leftover to photograph. And since my Quest bar stash is nowhere NEAR this big now, you get this recycled pic. Sue me.

Freeze Pleeze Pumpkin Spice

After getting my necessities at the market (tomatoes, eggs, and a little present for a fellow FROG lover) and running a few more errands, I was a sweaty mess so I decided I might as well be a sweaty mess while walking around the park. Then, since I was only minutes from Freeze Pleeze, I decided it’d be cooler (ha, get it?) if I walked around the park WITH ICE CREAM!

New: Pumpkin spice COCONUT MILK ice cream

And it really did cool me off…especially since it stayed in “dip ‘n dot” form for about 30 minutes after its bath in liquid nitrogen. 😀

After my walk (and an ample dose of vitamin D which I later got comments on…either that or the pumpkin tan really IS working!), I went home, showered, and “tried” to nap before work. I really ended up tossing and turning for most of it and then got up after two hours to ya know…

Southwestern Eggy Thingy

Whip up an omelette eggy thingy! Actually, I’m surprised it turned out so pretty because I basically just threw shit (or to be more precise: bell pepper, olives, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese) in a skillet, covered it, and then slid it out on a plate before taking 2.9235 minutes to inhale it before going back to bed.

Tried and true: Eggs & cheese

Once back in bed, I did dream about milking coffee out of brown cows so…um, I guess did manage to sleep for at least a few minutes. 😉

Coffee to Go

Obviously this was much-needed on the drive to the hospital. Update: I’m finally down to only THREE bags of coffee! Sadly, this one is not one of my favorites…
Brew La La FAIL! 😛

New: Drinkable [Dirt] Pie

Leftovers - Salad & Buffalo Cauliflower

Work was really busy so I was glad I had my leftovers from lunch on Friday. This may not look like much, but since I basically filled up on bread and most of the buffalo cauliflower, I only had a couple of bites before asking for a box…with extra dressing because I could seriously bathe in the stuff!

Tried and true: The PERFECT salad

Steazy Tea

I washed that all down with what I keep calling “steazy teazy”. Since I fell in love with the root beer, I decided to give some other flavors a try. I wasn’t a big fan of the regular soda or the black cherry, but the blood orange is delish!

New: Blood Orange “Steazy Teazy”

Once my shift FINALLY ended, I made my way back home and whipped up a fantastic mess of a bowl…no really…it kinda looked like something else that comes of a chicken’s butt. Luckily, I have another pic to share since I’ve been enjoying this combo all week!

Cottage Cheese, Pumpkin, Figs & Peanuts

I recently dug out an old packet of chai latte mix that was always a bit too sweet for me to drink. Then remembered how I’d used it waaaaaaaay back when as saucy topping for pancakes and oats. I took the lazy way and just sprinkled it on top and BAM! Insta-deliciousness! 😀

Tried & True: Cottage cheese, pumpkin, and peanuts with
New: Chai latte spice mix

WIAW Teal

Alright folks, that’s enough from me. Hop on over to Peas & Crayons and see what all the other party people are dishing up this week!

What is one of your favorite tried and true meals?

What’s something new you’ve tried this week?

  1. Yum! The cottage cheese mix sounds so good 🙂 And I need to replenish my Quest bar stash, too.. haha. A favorite tried and true meal for me when I’m uninspired is fried eggs with toast .. no fuss!

  2. That omelete looks AMAZING! I really don’t have success making omelets…what’s your secret? lol!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

My secret? Don’t fold them! That’s where it always ends up getting scary (and ugly) for me! I just cover the skillet with a lid and when it looks like the top is just about set, I flip it over and let it cook just a minute more. 😀

  3. I love WIAW because I come across new blogs that I love! That cottage cheese concoction looks awesome. I miss cottage cheese I used to eat it every day! Maybe ill try this mixture and re-introduce it 🙂

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Awww, thank you Kelsey! 😀 Definitely give this combo a try…seriously one of my favorites! Hard to believe I used to be…a cottage cheese hater years ago! *gasp* Lol

  4. I love making eggy omelet things with lots of shit in them. Olives? genius.

  5. tried and true meal right now: rice cakes, avocado, fried eggs, and sriracha. Seriously, I can’t stop. Now I want a Quest bar…

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh man! It’s been TOO long since I’ve had a fried egg-topped rice cake! Can never thank you enough for turning me on to that combo…a mess to eat but definitely worth it!

  6. At least your dreams aren’t lactose intolerant 😉

  7. Ohhh man that ice cream stuff. That looks delicious! And I haven’t tried that Steaz tea yet but I’m definitely going to keep an eye out for it.

Looks like a lovely Saturday of eats 🙂

  8. I remember in kindergarden we were talking about milking cows and how the typical black and white cow produced the white milk. Then the teacher asked us how wegm get chocolate milk.

obviously, everyone knows it’s from Brown cows. I think your dream must mean something.

  9. Natash says:

Tried and true: steamed veggies and roasted kabocha with random spices and hot sauce

New: well, kind of roasted acorn squash and roasted mini peppers and random varieties of apples care of my farmer’s market

    Yes, I”m a veggie lover (:

  10. I too am a Quest bar fanatic when I am running late.
My tried and true go to foods – fruits, greek yogurt, peanut butter, etc.

  11. Figs, pumpkin, and chai? Yum, a match made in heaven!

One of my favourite tried and true meals is tofu stir fry with sunflower seed butter sauce. It never gets old!

Something new I tried this week was a Mediterranean restaurant in Toronto called Tabule. I had the appetizer platter with falafel, hummus, baba ganouj, and tabule. It was perrrrfection.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Mmmm, sounds like it! I love me some Mediterranean food! And yeah, I’d be a dope if I didn’t know that’s one of your favorite meals…have to say I’ve seen it more than a couple of times since I started reading your blog years ago! 😉

  12. I love cottage cheese and pumpkin together too! I like to have it with pepitas but peanuts sound great! I absolutely love Brew La La Coffee too! I need to try that flavor! The pumpkin pie and caramel apple flavors are so good!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh yeah, pumpkin and peanuts (or peanut butter) is one of my favorite flavor combos! I’ll have to keep my eyes open for those Brew La La flavors…I’ve not seen those before!

  13. Okay, great, I was just about to go to bed happy and well-fed, then saw you had posted and now I’m hungry again. Invite me over for ice cream. And the mix of amazingness in the last picture. Even for coffee because you know I’m determined to develop a liking for it and we don’t have ANY flavoured varieties over here.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh girl, if I had you ONE day over here, you’d be worshipping the coffee gods right along with me! …and you’d be stuffed silly with all things pumpkin! 😉

  14. You’ve just deemed it a guarantee for me to have cottage cheese with breakfast tomorrow. I miss that dairy goodness!

Last night I went out for Lebanese food and had these perfectly amazing deep fried felafel- something I hadn’t had in ages because of legumes. I now know the more deep fried = kinder on the stomach.

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ohhh, it’s been forever since I’ve had some good falafel! Hmm, wonder if I deep fried some lentils if I could tolerate them? Eh, I think I’ll just stick to french fries! Haha!
