Please tell me you guys remember this!

Oh umm, hi!

So I don’t really feel like putting up a post today. It’s rainy out (can you tell from the wild and unruly curls?) and after 4 days of summer weather, I feel a bit rowdy…stir crazy…hyper.

I thought about doing a vlog.

But do people REALLY ever watch them? Well, besides me because I’m always curious to see how funny people sound…er, I mean just to hear their voices! Yeah…that’s what I meant. So yeah, I thought about doing a vlog, but it’s kind of a pain because YouTube totally sucks and my words never match up to the way my mouth moves…and if I use another website, it takes like 2 hours to load. And I don’t have time for that.

Because I’m feeling rowdy.

You guys ever watch Scrubs?

“Oh Rowdy, how do you get so dirty?” 😉

Wait, what was I talking about? …Oh yeah, ME! <- Go figure!

So, instead of a vlog, how about some still frames? Hey, if a pictures worth a thousand words, this will be a HELL of a lot quicker than a video!

So, I was feelin’ gansta-ish after that first shot…

How about one of these babies?

Perhaps you remember the last time I hosted a Slimkicker GIVEAWAY?!

“SlimKicker is a diet and fitness tracker that takes your diet/fitness goals and turns them into a level-up game. You upload an image of something you’ll reward yourself such as a new DVD, and when you reach a certain number of points, we’ll remind you to reward yourself with that. SlimKicker also has a recipe section for diets like Medifast and Weight Watchers

Well, a couple of weeks ago, I was contacted by one of the SK peeps and asked if I’d be interested in hosting another. Now, while I don’t count calories anymore or have any use for a diet/fitness tracker, I DO love the idea behind this program…motivating people to live healthier by making small changes in their every day life!

So here’s how it’s gonna go down…

All you have to do is leave a comment with a fun idea for a fitness and diet challenge!

Here are a few examples:
New Foods Challenge: Chose a one new food or recipe to make each week to challenge your tastebuds to something different.
Rise & Shine Challenge: Get up 30 minutes early everyday to give yourself some quiet/down time before you begin your busy day.
Stretch & Roll Challenge: Aim for 10-15 minutes after each day to stretch and/or foam roll tight muscles.

Ha! Made all those up by meee-self! 😉

The good ol’ boys (and girls) at SK will choose the one they like the best! The winner’s challenge will be featured on the their website AND they’ll also get a brand spankin’ new slow cooker!

Sound good? Yeah, I thought so! 😉

Open to US residents only. Giveaway will run until next Thursday (11:59pm CST) with the winner announced as soon as possible!

 Good luck and happy Friday!

xoxo

Thoughts on the F-Word

Today marks the halfway point in the IE Challenge.

 My mind is reeling.

I’ve been trying for DAYS to get my thoughts together so they all make sense, but it’s not really working. I’ve written stuff out. I’ve crumbled stuff up. I’m not really sure what to do here.

I feel like…I feel like saying…

Stream of consciousness starts…NOW!

Up until last week, I felt like I was making HUGE strides in my journey with intuitive eating. Then I had a “slip.” I know I shouldn’t refer to it as a “slip” because that infers that I made a mistake…which I didn’t. It’s all part of the learning process.
And besides, there’s no room in life for guilt, RIGHT?

I’ve always been a perfectionist. I’ve always had the mindset that if I’m going to do something, I’m going to be damn good at it. That being said, I am also a quitter. I’m not ashamed to admit it…it’s true.

If I suck, I quit. End of story.

But I can’t quit this (much like lonesome cowboys can’t quit each other). This is so much more than just something new to “try on”. I know this is for me. I know that once I’m over the hard parts, my life will be better for having made this decision. I feel it.

I can’t WON’T give up.

Jamie told me the other day that I’m being too hard on myself. She said I need to learn to treat myself like a little girl. Take notice of things I’m not happy with in a non-judgmental manner, speak kindly to myself and move on.

That hit me hard.

I would never in a MILLION years use such hurtful words with a child as I have with myself. You wouldn’t berate a toddler for falling after just learning to walk would you?

Oh, yeah…that was a good one, wasn’t it?
*pats self on back* 😉

So let me take you through the thought process of my last “slip” THING that happened…remember that fruity fro-yo from festerday (sorry, alliteration relapse)?

Fro-yo

Yeah, well, I didn’t really want it. I was SO full after my meal, but I had been the one to suggest dessert after dinner. I didn’t want to look silly in front of my friends. Plus, I love fro-yo and I don’t get it as often as I would like, so I decided to just get a little bit. And I ate it all. It wasn’t even that good…tasted too sweet. Probably because I was so damn FULL!

I felt miserable, and for the rest of the night, I beat myself up over it.

Beat myself UP over a cup of unicorn entrails FROZEN YOGURT!!

Who does that??

I was disappointed in myself. Disappointed that I didn’t just go with my gut (pun not intended, but still welcome) and say “no thank you”. Oh and did I mention that I forgot to take my Lactaid beforehand? Yeah, if I didn’t know any better, I’d say it was premeditated self-sabotage…like, “Oh yeah, I’ll show her!”

And for another level of crazy, my stomach is now talking to me! 😯

But you know what? Even IF your lactose-challenged/talking tummy swells up like a balloon and makes you appear six months pregnant, one night of overeating isn’t going to make you fat. Hell, TWO nights in a row won’t make you fat…because I’m not gonna lie, that wedding dinner? That was a full-fledged, night of overindulgence.

BUT you know what WHAT?

I was ok with that. Because I realized at THAT moment that I was overeating. I told myself that it was ok to eat past my full point, but I stayed in tune with my body and knew when to stop before I overdid it. Unfortunately, on Sunday night, I was too zeroed in on oversized sprinkles in the form of cereal to see that! 😉

And besides, I didn’t overeat ALL weekend which is something I should be AM proud of myself for. In the past, I would have seen one instance of overeating as a chance to just…to just say…well…

“Fuck it!”

And then would proceed to gorge myself all weekend, telling myself that come Monday morning, I would be “better”! But that’s not how it is now. I have STILL made progress in that aspect. I actually was VERY mindful for most of my meals and I came home with a LOT of leftovers that I’ve been enjoying all week!

LeftoversAnd that is the SAME wrap in TWO separate pictures…leftover leftovers!

I’ve actually surprised myself by not being able to finish most of the meals I’ve prepared over the last few days. So you see Heather everybody HEATHER,
the body DOES know how to balance itself out!

And because I like to end my posts on a light-hearted note, tell me, what are your FIVE favorite F-words?

Fro-yo, Filament (you have to admit it’s FUN to say), Fluffaaaaaay, Fantastical,
and um…Fotography?! 😉

A Wild and Wonderfully Walliterative Weekend!

Well hello there, my little sugar dumplin’s!

I just read through all the comments on Monday’s post and I swear nearly HALF of you professed undying love for wedding cake! Now don’t get me wrong, I can appreciate a dessert here and there, but I guess my tastes are just highly refined (read: I have absolutely no sweet tooth), well, unless it had been a big fat Greek wedding COOKIE, then all bets would have been O-F-F! 😉

Anyhoodle, enough about cookies, how about I show you guys a bit more of the fantastic food I found myself faced with this feekend?

Weekend Eats

I could never miss out on an opportunity for appropriate alliteration OR the chance to play with PicMonkey! 😉

And well heck, while we’re at it…

WIAW TealI might as well throw my wegular Wednesday wingding(?!)!

Be sure to scooch on over to Peas & Crayons to see what fabulous foodie funderment is unfolding in other parts of blogworld! 😉

The weekend got off to a wild start with some wickedly delicious WAFFLES!

Waffles with PB & Banana

Freshly made toasted from a frozen box by the man-friend and then slathered in crunchy peanut butter, 1/2 banana, and some waaaay to sweet maple syrup!

After our meal, we made our way to the market of the farmer variety…

Jam Taste Testing

And Heather got friendly with some fellow foodies and scored some free finger foods!

FYI, Nashville Jam Co. has some freakishly fantastic foodiments!

After about half a sleeve of Ritz crackers topped with marscapone cheese and a variety of jams and sauces, I left with a strawberry jalapeno jam and a jalapeno honey mustard…both are highly addicted with heat this spice wimp can handle! 😉

On the way out, overloaded with our obligatory fresh finds, the man-friend had a hunger for something hot and not too heavy…

Shrimp Po' Boy

A crusty Cajun bread filled with crispy crustacean cousins!

aka…a Shrimp Po’ Boy from Nooley’s 😉

I snuck a sample, but not to keep any secrets, my stomach was still pretty full of sweet delicious jam!

Quest Cookie Bar

But there might have been some sensible snacking on a soft and succulent
Quest bar before…

The night of nuptial noshing. 😉

The morning after our decadent dinner, I awoke salivating for something simple…

Toast Egg & BananaToast smeared my new strawberry spread, topped with a perfectly fried poultry progeny and a side of cinnamon sprinkled subtropical fruit!

Not many hours later, we made the most of the marvelous 70-degree weather and went for some motorcycling and Mexican munching at Las Palmas

Motorcycling & Mexican

Veggie fajitas for me and fish tacos for the friend who is my man! 😉

Las Palmas Veggie Fajita Chip

A mouth-waterin’ mountain of a morsel!

We ended the weekend wight with some friends and foods from a faraway land…

Tzatziki's Hummus Plate

Or maybe it was just a Greek joint called Tzatziki’swork with me weople! 😉

Holy delicious hummus and really hard pita crisps that were just ho-kay.

Tzatziki's Greek Salad with Lamb

Followed by a fresh salad filled with freak GREEK flavors and garnished with grilled game (aka, lamb).

And perhaps there was some partaking in some fruity fro-yo fun

Fro-yoLuscious lemon topped with Capt’n Crunch (promise it’s in there), Fruity Febbles, and cha-cha-cha- cherries!

And thus ends my theatrical abuse of thesaurus.com!

What’s the BEST thing you ate this weekend?

Did anyone else know that “wingding” was something other than a font in
Microsoft word??

Oh and since I’m pretty sure at least five of you will ask, my nail color is
“Mojito Madness” by Essie 😉
