Happy New Years EVE!!

Can you believe it?! I swear it manages to sneak up on me each and every year! I kinda wanted to get some sort of “year in review” type post up yesterday, but I was crazy busy at work and there was no time. Then, when I got around to opening my computer today, I realized that there are far too many favorites and that post would likely be something around 902186750 words. So…you’ll just have to take this sweet and condensed version instead…you know, like the stuff that makes Christmas fudge taste like crack! πŸ˜‰

Yup, it’s time for my TWELTH Currently post! I have to say I’ve LOVED doing these each and every month and will be continuing them in the new year…though I think I may throw a fewΒ twerksΒ tweaks in here or there. πŸ˜†

Current Book:

Currently - Divergent BooksI’ve been tearing through the Divergent trilogy! I just started Allegiant yesterday and I’m already a quarter of the way through…can’t get ENOUGH!

Current Music:

Carol of the Bells is definitely one of my favorite Christmas songs, so after seeing this Pentatonix version on Sam’s blog the other day, I was in complete awe!

Current Guilty Pleasure:

Reading…as in I’ve been ignoring practically everything I can for “just one more page”…hence the reason I’m so behind in blog reading at the moment! Oops? 😳

Current Nail Color:

December Nails

The ONLY snow I’d like to see…on my nails! πŸ˜€ Last week, I got a little festive and “dusted” my nails withΒ Essie’s hors d’oeuvres, which may be my new favorite glitter!

Current Drink:Β

Pumpkin Coffee

While I’m still loving on the La Croix (and actually am drinking one right now!), this month has been too cold to go with out some HOT coffee! I picked these two up at TJ Maxx last month and have been loving the taste of them mixed together!

Current Food:

Salad with Pomegranate and Mushrooms

Christmas-themed salads…

Tuna Melt

Tuna melts (with more Christmas-themed salads) and…

Cereal with Peanut Flour & Bananas

Cereal + peanut flour + fruit (mostly pomegranate, but you’ll have to accept this recycled pic as most bowls have been eaten in less than 5 minutes)

Current Favorite Show:

There hasn’t been any time for TV this month with all the movies the man-friend and I have been watching. We added another THREE to the list this past weekend: The Great Gatsby (LOVED it…just like I knew I would!), The Way Way Back (very cute…reminded us of Perks of Being a Wallflower…and it had my girl from The Carrie Diaries in it!), and we were going to watch both the Percy Jackson movies, but I was pretty tired and wasn’t sure if I could hang through another 2 hours of exceptionally bad acting! #sorryimnotsorry

Current Wish List:

Gonna let you in on a little secret: This year, on my birthday, I wished to finally have a normal relationship with food. Not to jinx anything, but I just have to say that I have been feeling GREAT this month…I honestly haven’t given much thought to deciding on what to eat, consequences, guilt, anything…I’ve just been eating and enjoying ALL food! I even partook in the man-friend’s EPIC sandwich on Saturday!

The Man-Friend's EPIC Sandwich

That would be steak, Swiss, bacon, mushrooms and onions, cheddar, and more steak! πŸ˜‰Β It was really REALLY good and after patting himself on the back for a good hour, he started thinking of ideas for his next one! Lol

Current Needs:

An arm massage because…

Current Triumphs:

Bodypump Workout

After almost a YEAR out of any and all classes at the gym (thanks to the bum knee), I finally felt ready and jumped (figuratively of course) back into Bodypump last Friday!!!! …and my triceps are STILL sore!

Current Bane of Existence:

The no-mouse-catching, piss-all-over-my-floor, shed-hair-onto-every-surface-of-my-house furball who has been relentlessly reminding me of his presence…

Tiger Book

Current Celebrity Crush:

Anna Sophia Robb…WHY does this girl have to be so dang CUTE?! #girlcrush

Current Indulgence:

Chocolate

This past weekend, the man-friend and I put a major dent in the discount chocolate I picked up Β after Christmas…as in, there are only about five pieces left! I would just like to say though that before I even had ONE, he had already eaten SEVEN! I seriously thought about hiding it from him!

Current Blessing:

The reaction from my friends and family while opening their gifts this Christmas and enjoying that warm fuzzy feeling once I saw their faces light up…or getting a text with all caps and eighteen exclamation points saying thank you! πŸ˜€

Current Slang:

Hashtag hashtag HASHTAG! #word 😎

Current Outfit:

Christmas PJ'sWhat with all the cold weather we’ve been having this month AND my general lack of enthusiasm for going out in it, I’ve pretty much been wearing my PJ’s non-stop…and my birthday scarf…you know, when I’m not using it for a photography prop! πŸ˜‰

Current Excitement:

I can’t really say that 2013 has been a bad year because I’ve had the opportunity to do and SEE so much, but now that I’m finally feeling what it feels like to be centered, to be carefree, to be NORMAL, I’m so excited to see what the new year has to bring!

I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday! I’ll see ya NEXT YEAR!!! πŸ˜€

  1. I think you’ve made leaps and bounds on your current wish, and that it’ll just keep getting better for you πŸ˜‰ Happy New Years Eve hun!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Thank you SO much, Sam!! I’m really looking forward to seeing what the new year will bring! Happy new year to you, gorgeous!

  2. I love BodyPump and have been taking full advantage of my gym membership this month… Have you ever heard of BodyFlow? I’m going to my first class today – a blend of yoga + pliates + tai chi. Happy New Year!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Ohhhh, no, I haven’t heard of that! I’ve never taken a pilates class before…and I’m pretty sure I was the youngest by like 30 years in the one tai chi class I took! Haha!

  3. Happy New Year Heather!!!:) Just loved finding your blog in 2013! Can’t wait to see what you do in 2014<3

  4. I loved the Divergent series – it’s going to make a great movie series (unless they ruin it, which they better not). And I’m all about the Christmas themed food right now too – so much color AND flavor!!

  5. I’m glad you’re doing so well with your wish! That sandwich your man friend made seriously does look epic! I would love to get a bite of that. πŸ˜‰

I’ve been wanting to try Body Pump, but you’re making me scared to try it… being sore for a week does not sound like fun haha.

    Happy New Year’s Eve!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Aww, well that’s only because it’s been almost a YEAR since I’ve had a good full body workout. Seriously though, Body Pump is like the ONE class that I absolutely love…the energy is great and it’s a total body workout that doesn’t even feel like a workout in less than an hour! Definitely give it a shot!

  6. Taryn says:

Love your ring in the nail polish pic! Love the combo of pumpkin and hazelnut! Love tuna melts! Love the Divergent trilogy! And I’ve been doing almost nothing but reading lately, too. If you can’t tell, I liked this post a little bit πŸ˜‰

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Aww, you are too cute! Thank you, Taryn! My sister gave me the ring…I think she got it at Claire’s boutique at the mall?

And I just have to say, as an avid pizza-lover, your blog name is awesome! πŸ˜‰

  7. You always make me feel shame of the state of my nails. πŸ˜‰

    Happy New Year!!!

  8. That tuna melt… melts my heart πŸ˜‰ Love it.
Hapy new year love !! xo

  9. Robyn :) says:

    aaaaawww……. kitty paw!!!

  10. Holy Shit I’m like your number 1 fan. Now I feel all awkward and what not. I’m afraid it’ll never be the same again. Hold on.
Alright, that’s better; all gone. The white nails look fabulous. I’m pretty sure I’m going dark for tonight. It’ll be like the third time this year I actually painted my nails anything other than clear. I love, love, love the PAW just creeping in. Ninja kitty has hidden skills and he was only making a fuss because you let a mouse live in his house. I will take your Christmas Salad times four please. In fact, just toss me all the veggies. Yes, yes I want them all. Mwauuahhhaaahhhaaa. Just made up my own laugh. It’s cool.
Happy New Year Baby Doll. Go have a blast!!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! I love you! And I LOVE that you’re my number one fan! Is it weird that I actually clapped my hands together when I saw you at the top? πŸ˜‰

Here’s to another year of being just plain awesome! *tips a glass in your direction*…ok, so maybe it’s a mug of coffee, but that just doesn’t sound the same! Lol

  11. I’m wearing a few coats of that very Essie nail polish right nowβ€”the best! This year was really challenging and full of all kinds of crazy transitions (I seriously need to call my astrologer and ask wtf was going on with sagittarius in 2013), but your blog has been a breath of fresh air. Happy new year : )

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh really? I’m a sagittarius too! I don’t really take the whole sign thing too seriously, but I can definitely attest to having a whirlwind kind of year! Now I’m kinda curious!

You are TOO sweet, lady! Happy new year to you!! πŸ˜€

  12. I just finished the Divergent Series… all three in four days. Can you say addicted? I can’t wait to hear what you think!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

HOLY CRAP!! That’s GOT to be some kind of record! I’m only halfway through Allegiant right now, but I’m hoping to finish it by the end of the weekend…even though part of me is afraid of the ending! πŸ˜•

  13. LOVE Pentatonix!! They are seriously genius.
That sandwich…I forwarded the link to Sandro and now it’s subject numer one in his circle of (man)-friends. They are really jealous! :-)
Since I am on vacation since December 19th, I think I only wore proper clothes for christmas and the end-of-the-year party at my friend’s house on the 30th. Other than that PJ’s and workout capris!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Oh wow, what a nice break! And Sandro definitely needs to get in on this EPIC sandwich…so worth the time!

  14. Chrystal M. says:

Happy New Year! Love the ninja kitty!

Since I work from home I pretty much wear pj bottoms or yoga pants in the winter. It’s rare to see me sitting at the desk in jeans. I don’t miss Corporate America. Well, maybe a tiny bit. There were a few good perks. But I am perfectly content bumming it at home.

Looking forward to more great posts in 2014!

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Haha! Hey, that’s one good thing about working in the medical field…scrubs are pretty much just pajamas in disguise! Though it would be nice if it weren’t so damn cold in the hospital! I swear I’m going to start sticking those hot pad things to every part of my body before my shifts start! Lol

      • Chrystal M. says:

My husband is in respiratory therapy. I keep telling him we should buy me some scrubs too. He doesn’t complain about the cold too much but he’s like a furnace. Always hot. He does wear wick shirts under his scrubs so that might help too.

        • kissmybroccoli says:

The man-friend is the same way…and I am always FAREEEEEEEEZING! I’d think about layering up under my scrubs if I didn’t usually end up running my ass off while I’m at the hospital…I’d be sweating in no time!

  15. Kat says:

So my little brother is here and he’s sitting next to me as I read this post and he’s like, BEYOND drooling over that sandwich with all that meat. He’s like “Kate, we have to go find that!” hahaha he’s a foodie and he didn’t even realize it! πŸ˜‰

  16. Sarah Pie says:

Ahh let me know your reaction when you finish Allegiant! (My brother gave me the first one for Christmas and then I tore through all 3….). I’m loving your current outfit and all your hashtag swag :)

    • kissmybroccoli says:

Will do! I didn’t have much time to read earlier this week, but thanks to my bout of insomnia the other day (?), I’m now halfway through! It’s a little confusing how it switches back and forth between the character perspectives, but I’m still loving it…and the suspense is killing me!

  17. OMGGGG just started the divergent trilogy two days ago, and I’m already halfway through the second book. I’m in love. IN LOVE.

    Happy happy new year!!

  18. So glad you’re feeling so much better about your relationship with food! Proud of you girl!! :)
    happy new year!!

  19. …I just bought the divergent series for my new kindle…first books off the rank. It better be good πŸ˜‰

The two best days for a chocolate fan are the day after Easter and the day after Christmas. I like your form πŸ˜‰ That sandwich….amazing.

Your birthday wish = amazing. So stoked for you (wow, I just wrote stroked for you first…) and I know, with self belief, it will be successful.
