My Last FREE Weekend!

Hey there, Monday! You’re lookin’pretty good!

Ok…you guys probably already think I’m crazy for being in such a chipper welcoming Monday kind of mood. But yeah…well…you’re gonna think I’m even crazier (relative to MY definition of normal) here in a couple of minutes.

Ya see…a couple of weeks ago, I asked for a schedule change at work. No, I’m not switching to days…because well, that would be CuhRAYzeeeeee! Nope. I’m switching to weekends. My new schedule will be THREE days a week instead of four and I’ll be working every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I’ll take a moment to allow for gasps and any objects/obsenities you want to throw at me through your computer. Just know that none of them will actually hit me. So…

Nana nana…boo BOO! 😛

The truth is, some things – well, lots of things actually – have changed in my life lately and when this new position became available, it just made sense for me to take it. It’s not like I’ll never be able to take off for a weekend…you know, in case some of my Blends wanna come visit (hint hint, wink wink)…I’ll just have to request the time off.

I won’t have my set schedule until November, but in the meantime, I’ll be helping with the transitioning period by taking the weekends and a couple of other shifts here and there. So, with this being my last official weekend off, I made sure to do it up right! Or really, that’s just how I’m justifying the all-out-indulgence attitude I realized I had after looking at my pics!

RumChata

It all started with my little “bedtime treat” on Friday night. My grandmother always said a glass of warm milk was the secret to a good night’s sleep. Sorry Mammy, but a glass of ice-cold RUMCHATA after a shot of liquid Benedryl is the ticket to a 10-hour, much-needed, self-induced, any-other-hypenated-words-you-care-to-add COMA!

BAM! 😎

Fall at the Farmer's Market

Then, with all the extra energy I had, I frolicked around at the farmer’s market! We’re down to only three more weeks before it closes for the year and even though it didn’t FEEL like fall this weekend, the vendors were there bearing all sorts of autumnal treats!

Walk at the Park

And since Mother Nature has obviously misplaced the sticky reminding her that it’s now FALL, I took advantage of our 80ºF (26.6ºC) weather with a long walk at my favorite park.

Library Music

Then I cooled off at the library (between happy dances) while finding some of my FAVORITE artists in the music section. FYI, this Korn album is awesome!

Kroger Cookie Butter Spreads

And cooled off even more while prowling the aisles of Kroger searching for sales and other things I didn’t know I needed. For the record, there was no way in HELL I was going to be able to choose between these two…and it’s a good thing I didn’t have to because they are both AHHHHHHmazing! Yup, be jealous! 😛

Cheese & Tomato Sandwich

After a quick stop at the house for some fuel, I was off again! By the way, somebody kick me for waiting THIS long to make a cheese and tomato sandwich! I may or may not be eating them for the rest of the week.

Clothes Shopping

And then lots of shopping ensued…and I do mean LOTS! I rarely ever shop for clothes (that aren’t of the workout variety) but after I stepped inside Old Navy to buy any and all of the fitted tanks they had leftover from summer (by the way, there were five), I just couldn’t help myself. THEN I took it a step further and ventured into TJ Maxx. A couple of hours and multiple try-ons later…

Four pairs of leggings, two tanks, two tops, one duster, and one amazing (and unfortunately unpictured) cashmere blend sweater with a hood and THUMBHOLES!! Holy freakin’ score, right? Agree with me if you know what’s good for you! 😉

But the shopping didn’t stop there. Oh no. I just “had” to run by GNC to pick up some papaya enzymes (basically like TUMS only 923765 times tastier) and well, then I umm…

GNC - Quest Bars & Vitamins

There was a Say-YULLLLLLL!!!

Hey, at least I didn’t forget the papaya right? With my Quest bar stash running painfully low, I couldn’t help but snag up a box FOUR boxes. I mean, they WERE only $24.99 a box. And since I decided to renew my discount card, I obviously had to make my trip worthwhile!

The rest of the night was spent chillaxing at home with a little more RumChata (seriously, in LOVE with this stuff) and more Netflix marathoning.

Sunset

Needless to say Sunday was pretty low-key before going into work for the night. A good long walk at the park followed by this beautiful sunset was all I needed to prepare me for the workweek ONE NIGHT OF WORK TILL FRIDAY!

Yep, you read that right…starting today (as in right now since I just got off work) I’m off until Friday!! It’s a little confusing, but let’s just say that to get this transitional period up and going, there has to be a little switch mid-week…

Which I don’t mind AT ALL!

Hope you guys have a MARVELOUS Monday. I’ll be back tomorrow with a roundup of my latest “currentlies”! 😀

What did YOU do this weekend?

What’s the last item you bought for yourself?

Thinking Out Loud: Squirrel Moments

Hello friends!

So I actually planned to have a totally different kind of post today. One of a serious nature. One that I was fired up about. One that…required much more effort to type up than I have at the moment. After finishing up a 53-hour work week on sooooo not enough sleep, the writing motivation that was with me a couple of days ago has since flown out the window. Hopefully, I’ll have some time to get my thoughts together next week.

Until then, let’s just think some thoughts…OUT LOUD!

You know that scene in Disney’s Up where you first meet Dug the dog and realize he has quite a hilarious case of ADD? Well, I too am afflicted and frequently go about my day talking like a normal human being until all of a sudden it’s like…

Mini Apple

Omg, a baby apple!!!

I spotted this little cutie (along with many of his friends) at the farmer’s market last weekend and just had to buy some…not because I particularly like this variety of apple, not because they were only 25 cents a piece…oh no, I bought them because duh, they’re ADORRRRRABLE!

While prowling the aisles (anyone else feel like they’re on the hunt in a liquor store? Just me? Weird.) for margaritas with some friends the other day, I was trying to decide if we should go with regular or pineapple when…

Pickle Vodka

Look guys…PICKLES!!

At first, I couldn’t think of a single reason why any sane person would want to drink pickle-flavored spirits (and I do love me some pickles), but then I figured there was a reason it was sitting next to the bloody Mary mix. Ugh, how do people even drink those things? For the record, we went with pineapple…and should’ve gone with regular.

When I parked my car at the store yesterday, I got out and thought, “Oh wow, what a nice night. The weather is just….

Sunset

“Holy sky on fire where the hell’s my phone?!”

During my walk/jog/omg-why-do-I-feel-like-I’m-dying run with a friend the other day, we were deep in conversation…about current events and the upcoming election and…oh who the hell am I kidding? We were probably talking about cheeseburgers because you know, when you smell the fat burning you automatically…

Rose

Ohhhhh, pretty!

For the record, I only pointed it out (and totally interrupted my friend) at the time…I waited until we were walking back and my lungs had somewhat recovered before snapping a pic. 😉

While bingeing on my latest Netflix obsession the other day, I seriously had to hit pause and rush over to Google to figure out what song was playing. It sounded so…familiar. After my discovery I had to rewind the show about 5 minutes because I realized I hadn’t heard anything else while I was trying to place the song…

Then I gave myself a big pat on the back for recognizing the TRIO of voices from Fujiya and Miyagi in this catchy beat I found on Spotify months ago. 😉

Speaking of Breaking Bad…I think I have about 285 more episodes to watch while I think of nothing in or relating to a hospital. Though it does give me nightmarish flashbacks to my college years when I swore I would die before I ever made it through General Chemistry. I hope you guys have a fabulous weekend. In the meantime, why don’tcha hop on over to Spoons and see what there is to see?

WIAW: Tried and True and New!

Happy Wednesday dudes and dudettes!

Can you believe it? Me…partying it up TWO weeks in a row! Hmm…could this be a somewhat regular thing again? At least until daylight savings time starts and I start shaking my fist at the sky at 4pm? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!

This week, I’m sharing my eats from Saturday…where I got up jussssssss(yes this many s’s is completely necessary)t in time to make it to the farmer’s market before it closed and then had some ice cream for breakfast to celebrate! 😉

Quest Bars

After rolling over in bed and eyeing the clock, I saw I had TEN minutes to get out the door to make it to the market in time. I used 9.99999 of those minutes to pry my ass out of bed, tame the beast that resides on my head, and throw on some clothes. And since I had SO much time leftover, I made sure to prepare a decent meal…

Tried and true: [Peanut butter] Quest bar to the rescue!

The reality is that I ate the entire thing…wrapper and all in about 3 minutes…so there wasn’t even evidence leftover to photograph. And since my Quest bar stash is nowhere NEAR this big now, you get this recycled pic. Sue me.

Freeze Pleeze Pumpkin Spice

After getting my necessities at the market (tomatoes, eggs, and a little present for a fellow FROG lover) and running a few more errands, I was a sweaty mess so I decided I might as well be a sweaty mess while walking around the park. Then, since I was only minutes from Freeze Pleeze, I decided it’d be cooler (ha, get it?) if I walked around the park WITH ICE CREAM!

New: Pumpkin spice COCONUT MILK ice cream

And it really did cool me off…especially since it stayed in “dip ‘n dot” form for about 30 minutes after its bath in liquid nitrogen. 😀

After my walk (and an ample dose of vitamin D which I later got comments on…either that or the pumpkin tan really IS working!), I went home, showered, and “tried” to nap before work. I really ended up tossing and turning for most of it and then got up after two hours to ya know…

Southwestern Eggy Thingy

Whip up an omelette eggy thingy! Actually, I’m surprised it turned out so pretty because I basically just threw shit (or to be more precise: bell pepper, olives, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese) in a skillet, covered it, and then slid it out on a plate before taking 2.9235 minutes to inhale it before going back to bed.

Tried and true: Eggs & cheese

Once back in bed, I did dream about milking coffee out of brown cows so…um, I guess did manage to sleep for at least a few minutes. 😉

Coffee to Go

Obviously this was much-needed on the drive to the hospital. Update: I’m finally down to only THREE bags of coffee! Sadly, this one is not one of my favorites…
Brew La La FAIL! 😛

New: Drinkable [Dirt] Pie

Leftovers - Salad & Buffalo Cauliflower

Work was really busy so I was glad I had my leftovers from lunch on Friday. This may not look like much, but since I basically filled up on bread and most of the buffalo cauliflower, I only had a couple of bites before asking for a box…with extra dressing because I could seriously bathe in the stuff!

Tried and true: The PERFECT salad

Steazy Tea

I washed that all down with what I keep calling “steazy teazy”. Since I fell in love with the root beer, I decided to give some other flavors a try. I wasn’t a big fan of the regular soda or the black cherry, but the blood orange is delish!

New: Blood Orange “Steazy Teazy”

Once my shift FINALLY ended, I made my way back home and whipped up a fantastic mess of a bowl…no really…it kinda looked like something else that comes of a chicken’s butt. Luckily, I have another pic to share since I’ve been enjoying this combo all week!

Cottage Cheese, Pumpkin, Figs & Peanuts

I recently dug out an old packet of chai latte mix that was always a bit too sweet for me to drink. Then remembered how I’d used it waaaaaaaay back when as saucy topping for pancakes and oats. I took the lazy way and just sprinkled it on top and BAM! Insta-deliciousness! 😀

Tried & True: Cottage cheese, pumpkin, and peanuts with
New: Chai latte spice mix

WIAW Teal

Alright folks, that’s enough from me. Hop on over to Peas & Crayons and see what all the other party people are dishing up this week!

What is one of your favorite tried and true meals?

What’s something new you’ve tried this week?
